A HUGE shocker this. I totally expected him to play, so apparently the issue with his knees may be bigger than people first let on :(
He's had issues with his knees for the past couple of years but he's always been there for the big matches. I was really looking forward to seeing how he would bounce back from his French Open shocker.
The door is now opened for Federer and we'll just have to see if he can handle Djokovic and Murray or if someone new will be crowned champion.
On a side note, I guess this sort of cements Fed's spot as the greatest of all time. I mean, how many semi's has he played in a row? How many finals has he reached in the last 5 or 6 years? Just ridiculous statistics. Only Lendl comes close.
