Our sources have confirmed that Nvidia is working hard to launch its first DirectX 11 in this year. Well informed sources are telling us that the plan is to launch in late Q4 2009, but they can still make it before the end of the year.

Many people were reporting that Nvidia's high end GPU, something that we all call GT300, might be delayed for early 2010. Well we can tell you that this won’t happen, but we strongly believe that Nvidia cannot make it in time for the Windows 7 launch.

ATI has every chance to launch its DirectX 11 before Nvidia. Nvidia will come just a month or two later, but still in 2009.

good news :captnkill:

Yeah I just read that from the nvnews front page, now we just need to wait for review samples so we can get some benches.

I just hope that they don't rush it, just because they heard that ATI was going to release early. Finish it right.

That's been Nvidia's problem in the past. They've rushed products to market without enough QC testing. The 7-series had problems (bad memory causing freezes in games,) 8-series had problems (wrong resistors placed on PCB, 68c not 40c) and the 200-series had problems (overheating.)

I've learned not to be an early adopter.. I'll just wait for the 2nd batch of hardware after they've worked the kinks out.

Some of my favorites were the FX series (no need to be specific there, the whole series was a dud), as well as the memory issues with the 7900GT overclocked models.

FX was hardly rushed to market, the way I remember it was the FX series had been on the waiting list for a long time before it was finally released, it just turned out what nvidia tried to do didnt work, making the FX series a joke

Sure great news but also just a rummor. Here in another rummor by Fuad (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=134038), he is talking about NVIDIA getting 40nm DX10.1 mobile GPUs in Q3 and later on desktop chips supporting DX10.1.

Now the question is, why is NV coming out so late with the DX10.1 support after talking how useless it was if they are just about ready at the same time to introduce the DX11 cards, where the DX10.1 is also going to be supported.

Anyway if the delay compared to ATI is going to be ONLY 1 or 2 months than NV should be ready just about for Christmas market, so it's not such a big deal at least for me.

They will loose some OEM market but most people only upgrading the Graphic Card might wait to compare, including me.

it could be that MS pressured them to support DX10.1, or maybe their customers where asking for it. it was about time to refresh their lower end parts anyway.

well it was wrong in the same sense that a rushed product is wrong. it was shoehorned into a market segment it didn't belong. the fx5800 would have worked great as a 350mhz-400mhz mid range part. it was obviously a disaster as a 500mhz high-end part.

I was early adaptor for every Nvidia card 6-series, 7-series, 8-series, 200-series and never had a single problem.

I was stuck on a GF4Ti for a long time due to having no job or money(which enticed me to work on the original Oblivion shader 1.1 conversion), but finally bought a 6600GT off a friend, essentially, nVidia learned from the big screwup that was FX, so all cards after FX have been pretty damn good, so its no suprise you never had any problem with them :)
Though since the 8800s, preformance hasnt really leaped ahead very much(for both parties), at least in single gpu setups anyway, I still dont feel the need to upgrade from my 8800GTX, but I am gonna jump on the Win7/DX11 bandwagon hopefully at the end of the year.
(Well, im already running Win7....just need DX11 hardware and the official release now)

Windows 7 Aero uses it, so prolly for the checkbox on the box.
OEMs prolly gonna want it, looks good on paper, and again checkbox.

I dont think there are any high performance DX10.1 GPUs coming from NV, just budget and low end stuff.
They´re prolly going to have the entire budget lineup made up by DX10.1 GPUs for a while after their DX11 HW is released.
Like the GF8 series didn´t have any low end parts for quite a while as I recall it, just the 8800 GTS and GTX.

I have to say all this talk about Windows 7, ATI/NVIDIA, Larrabee and DX11 is getting more and more interesting as time flies. o.O

Glad to know i'll most likely be retiring my 8800GT by end of the year. Ahh the suspense...
