If this works out, I'll drop XBMC and start using this guy. The only thing I've found that doesn't work right out of the box is the Twitter app and my MCE remote doesn't work. Will troubleshoot tomorrow.
If you guys sign up for a username, post it here so we can add each other!
Mine is obviously . . .

It's a XBMC-like port that has actual real working plugins for Hulu, Comedy Central, etc. It also adds in a little bit of social networking, as you can recommend a certain Hulu show to a friend or see what other friends are watching/listening to. Pretty neat app though.

I haven't posted anything about Boxee in a while because with the Windows Alpha release, one huge important thing just didn't work: playback of a DVD. Pretty unbelievable huh?
So now I've decided to revisit Boxee and see where the Beta was going and see what all has changed since Alpha. HOLY SHIZ. Boxee has turned into something absolutely amazing.
DVD playback works like a charm now. The only issue I have with it is that I would like a "Resume from xx:xx" on the DVD just like I do on my local files.
Probably the best thing that I really like about the Beta is that it has built in remote support. It's unchecked by default, but you can check it, restart Boxee and voila, you Windows MCE remote works with no external software. I've been using EventGhost with XBMC and it works, but not how I would like it to work.
Finally, it integrates with Facebook and Twitter. Like the movie you are watching? It can automatically post a quick "I'm watching Iron Man" or "loves Iron Man on Boxee" or something like that. I think this would be pretty neato if you had a lot of friends that used it too.
I'm going to do some further testing tomorrow with streaming content over my network, see if the playback is any better than using XBMC.
Anyone else tried it out?

XBMC works like this for me, has for a while now. I've tried boxee, but I don't like how complicated its UI is. The point of having a 10fUI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10-foot_user_interface) like XMBC and boxee use is simplicity. Boxee has a ways to go before their UI is nice and simple, XBMC is already there though.
XBMC is currently working on DVR front end support as well, which I really look forward to. Boxee is probably better if you like the social networking stuff though (I've never been big on that.)

They found a way around it. It basically loads the web page up and displays it in full screen.

lol nekro will defend his chosen software to the death!
Social networking does interest six. He's always on Twitter. Much easier to stalk him that way.

Haha. XBMC is great no doubt but I do like the social networking aspect of Boxee. I also like simplicity. It took me a while to get EventGhost working right so built in remote functionality is a big plus for me.
Also Boxee has the built apps like Youtube, MTV music videos, TV stations like fox and cbs, etc. If you want the same in XBMC, its a "good luck" and a blast trying to get it working right.

Just an example of what Boxee does with social networking. Pretty neat if you ask me. This also goes to my Twitter feed as well:
