Or have you learnt your lesson from the massive con that DX10 was?

DX10 compatibility is pretty low on my list of graphics card requirements.

Bergman rejected the INQ's claim that only a minimal amount of game titles this year would take advantage of DX11, saying he knew of four to five ISVs working "eagerly" to churn out games and remarking he'd seen "great progress."

Names please!

they just have to flick a switch in the code and all dx10 games will run in dx11 mode which means no performance loss and all the good stuff :afro2:

This was posted somewhere before...

Here it is:

Does no one read the News Headline section? This is the second thread that has been covered there that has been introduced here as well.

It also has a much more credible link...

The problem is 99% of the DX10 games take a big performance hit from DX9 already. The only game that didnt was Far Cry 2 which had a weird stutter in DX10 so I ended up playing that in DX9 too. DX10 was just smoke, mirrors and less FPS.

Bearclaw - you aren't missing out on anything so no hurry.

The problem are multiplatform games. DX10 is must have for deferred rendering AA. Clear Sky is an example. Smoke and mirrors are possible on DX9 too :)

If anything DX10 was a huge marketing boost for PC games, since some people can just pull the Dx10 on others and if they don't know much they are like WTF MATES.

But yeah DX10 was a flop, Lost Planet was a game that ran really well in DX10 if I recall, not many others though. All Dx10 really means to me is that xfire in game won't probably work, game will probably run slower. :/

A lot depended on the failure of Vista. Due to bad press and whatever, it didn't become really popular. If it had been, we'd seen many more DX10 games.

Seeing how Windows 7 now is the opposite, with a lot of praise, if many gamers go for the upgrade I think DX11 might become quite popular. It does have some good features too.

+1

Not getting Vista or having DX10 capability, doesnt mean you need to limit yourself from better performance under DX9

LOL not me.

Other then Valve (and they support DX9 just fine) what developer has shown any respect to the PC customer these past 12-15 months? Hell the best selling game out their right now (Call of Duty - Modern Warfare and World at War) are still DX9 games and took great! Crysis was a DX10 joke, even MS's own Flight simulator which was suppose to be a DX10 only game shipped with DX9 and later added a half assed attempt at DX10.

There is no reason to keep buying PC hardware when the only reason, in the past, was to play the latest and greatest PC games at full res with all the visuals turned up.

Now that PC games are a second thought in the devs minds, there is no reason to upgrade which saves me a ton of money in the long run.

Sorry to all the PC hardware companies that are going to take a big hit this year, you can thank Microsoft for supporting their PC gaming platform.
