Every time I try to go to www.nvnews.net it gets page cannot be found. It finally let me on then it was so damn slow it would time out. Happened at work and at home.

Access is intermitent at best, and comming up with "unable to reach host" at worst. I've done a traceroute, and it looks like "Theplanet" is dropping packets on one of their routers: As this is nVnews's host provider, it appears to be an ISP issue. The traceroute is as follows:
E:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>tracert www.nvnews.net

Being unable to get into the forum direclty (before when I was able to get to the front page, the random dropping of packets would prevent full browsing down to a forum link; and errored out in browsing links down); I did send an email to what looks like Theplanet's tech support dept, with indication the site is down, and similiar results to the above traceroute (the one above is a newer one made just now). I made it however 5 or so hours ago, and it was after 5 pm EST, so no gaurentees it might get directed somewhere tonight.
Also, I'm not their customer, so they might not want to hear from me... The above is what's happening in the trace however, to the website here.... If they only want to take service interuption reports from their customers (rather then from visitors); the above should be useful info for MikeC, in helping to identify what's going on.
I demand an explanation :ORDER:

The Internet is a series of tubes...and I plug 'em so good, even Al Bundy would be impressed.
:D
Troubleshooting...
We are receiving the following message from the Apache log: server reached MaxClients setting, consider raising the MaxClients setting. This setting determines the maximum simultaneous connections.
The setting is being tweaked along with changing they way some of the web page images are being accessed.
It seems that if you refer to an image with a URL address (like "http://www.nvnews.net/images/logos/nvnews_forum_logo.gif"), a new connection is created. However, this can be avoided by referring to the image by its relative address on the server (like "../../images/logos/nvnews_forum_logo.gif").

Hopefully it's up for good this time. I almost became a loser and started doing drugs when it was down.

The crazy things you do when NVNews isn't available. :p
I'm still getting this intermittently. Sometimes pages load normally, but other times they take minutes. I haven't had many actual timeouts, but it's pretty unusable when it takes this long to load.
My traceroutes look similar to Son Goku's above. I'm guessing the third to last router is just misconfigured so it isn't responding, but since the two after it work fine it doesn't seem to be the problem. I'm not able to ping nvnews.net at all, but it's probably just configured to not respond to pings since there isn't actually 100% packet loss.

Ick, read about that the other day. The worst part is that Apache doesn't seem to think they need to do anything about it.:(

Sorry about that guys, I reckon y'all caught me. I was just mad at Mike, because after I wined and dined his ass, he wouldn't give me any loving. Maybe I should just move on to DOC...
