Hi,

After two weeks trying to search in the internet and trying to ask everywhere I am very frustrated because it is hard to find people who use the same card like me. This post will be a little bit long because I want to explain the whole thing so you guys can understand what happened to me. I really hope I can get some help here.

I just got a PNY Quadro FX 4500 x2. I know some people has talked about Quadro FX 4500 before but after I got this card, I know it is different from single Quadro FX 4500 because it is like two FX 4500 trap together, please refer to the product link here http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_fx_4500_x2.html, when I run this card in my windows vista 64bit, it just like a monster and I can set up SLI in render mode or SLI display mode.

Recently I decided to using my PC running Mac OSX 10.5.6 (iDeneb, some people use iPC or iAKTOS, or called OSX86 project). After I install the new OSX in my computer, I put my FX4500 x2 and I can not see anything, it is just pure black. After visiting some website like insanelymac (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=108342&st=20&gopid=1185310&#entry1185310) I think I probably need to flash this card before put into the computer, but that just my thought because some people who use FX4500 single module does flash their card but I never found anybody use or flash FX4500 x2 card in the forum.

When I tried to use nvflash (the latest version) to flash the rom, I can back up two roms and it ask me two times when I used "nvflash -b" to back up each rom (rom 0 and 1). However, when I use "nvflash -4 -5 -6 -j" command I can not put fixed rom back to my card. I know this maybe has something to do with the rom addresses since my card has two roms.........but it is really beyond my knowledge and I don't know how to do it, when I tried to put the fixed rom back to my card, it showed the error message below:

Checking for matches between display adapter(s) and image(s)......
Adapter: Quadro FX 4500x2 (10DE, 029F, 10DE, 0357) H:09:SP0 B:0A, PCI, D:00, F:00
Overriding PCI subsystem ID mismatch
Adapter: Quadro FX 4500x2 (10DE, 029F, 10DE, 0357) H:09:SP1 B:0B, PCI, D:00, F:00
Overriding PCI subsystem ID mismatch
No matches found

Again, I just assume I need to flash my card but all failed and when I asked questions in the mac rumor forum some people told me I don't really need to flash my card......I don't know which answer is right. Besides the flashing rom problem, I also believe that I need someone help with fixing my original rom because the fixed rom I downloaded from insanelymac (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=108342&st=20&gopid=1185310&#entry1185310) is not for FX 4500 x2, it is for FX4500, I couldn't find any fixed rom for FX 4500 x2. Here I attach the original rom I back up from my card and hope some people can help me to look at it. Somehow I also think I might need to change my GFX string or something else.......but still, I couldn't find any useful resource..........

Again, this is just the problems I have found from now. I know many genius here will be able to tell what's the problem immediately and help me out.

I really need help, and really really appreciate for any advice or direction. Sorry for my bad English but I do my best to explain the whole situation.

Please let me know if anybody can help me or know any direction I can go

Here is my computer hardware configuration:

Motherboard: TYAN Tempest i5000XT (S2696)
CPU: Intel Xeon e5345 quadcore x 2
RAM: 6G ECC RAM
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy 2 zs
Graphic Card: PNY nVidia FX 4500 x 2 1G
OS: Leopard 10.5.6

thank you so much

Where to begin?

1. I am not 100% sure about it, but I can't find anything about SLi support for OSX.

2. Flashing your card from a 4500x2 down to a 4500 is wrong. They are not the same card at all, and not really even that close. The 4500x2 is like a 7950GX2, and the 4500 is like the 7900GTX.

3. My understanding is that the 7950GX2 does not work in OSX, so I doubt the 4500x2 will either.

Not sure that any of that helps, but I'm pretty sure you're going to need a different graphics card for OSX.

thank you for the answer. I know it gonna be tough but I still want to do my best to get this card work in my computer.

After few days fighting with almost everything, I finally get my Quadro FX4500 x2 be able to seem in my OSX. This is a big step to me but still have problem.

Now I can see my FX4500 x2 show as two independent PCI-E cards, but for the first card system seems not be able to tell it even the VRAM is 0, the second one is a little bit better, system can tell the VRAM is 512MB, but show the CI is software and the QE is not supported.

One thing very interested is both of this two cards show the same Device ID.

I know this is not right, need somebody help me to make it right. When I search in the website, I found somebody did use two card to make it work in OSX, here is the link but I am not sure how he did it and of course it is the different card. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t132089.html
I tried to ask question over there but didn't get too many useful answer

is there any way to fix it? I am very appreciate for anything even just a direction

thank you so much

Anyone? Is there anybody know how to deal with Qudro FX card in OSX? Actually my card is very similar to GeForce 7800GX2, 7950GX2 and 9800GX2, it just maybe a little bit different in the rom or PCI addresses settings. I am very appreciate if anyone knows the trick to deal with this kind of card.

thank you so much

First of all, your card is only similar to the 9800GX2 in that it is a single card SLi solution.

Second, the working card in that thread is a 9800GX2, not a 7950GX2. The technologies are very different. The 7950GX2 to 9800GX2 is really apples to oranges in comparison.

I would say that your best bet for getting a "working" graphics card in OSX is to exchange your current card with a since PCB card (like 8800GT, 9800GT, 9800GTX, etc.) The only other option I can see is talking to NVidia and Apple and getting them to write a driver for you (seriously doubt that this will happen since you don't own a legal copy of OSX or a Mac).

In short, you're probably not going to get much help on this because of the following:

1. You own a rare video card.
2. You are trying to get said rare video card to work with a hacked OS with unsupported hardware.

Best of luck,
