I had to send that to a good friend that is into both platforms, but favors the mac for day to day tasks. Funny, I still haven't heard back from him.

Funny...espicially since nearly everything mentioned in the video describes windows perfectly...or is a blatant lie.

Funny how it's completely the opposite to XP.

I have yet had XP crash on me once. Had it since it came out.
Started off with a cracked warez version then bought it at a later date.

Funny, I've had XP crash on me a number of times, also had to deal with inexplicable file corruption, the list goes on really. Keep in mind, I worked at Dell as a technician. I've seen XP do a LOT of b0rked crap. Some of it due to user error, a lot of it inexplicable.

I've also worked on Macs, and I've used Macs longer than PCs. OSX is less prone to problems than even XP is in my experience.

But Macs do screw up too despite what those switch commercials say. And of course we all know the sort of retards that star in those ads ;)

I have yet to have Windows 2000 crash on me tis solid as a rock. Let's just face it, PCs are better than Macs. They are faster, more software for them and more games for them. Hurrah!:p

The file corruption for most was a symptom of poor IDE drivers provided to Microsoft from VIA with their Apollo series chipset. Wasn't an XP problem, it was a VIA problem.

You have to keep in mind that OSX is built for a finite number of platforms and therefore potential issues are much easier to engineer. Windows, on the other hand, has to be built to work on a completly differant paradigm. Because there is actually competition in the PC market, Microsoft has to do the best they can to make their software package work with every configuration possible. Sorry, but it's just not going to workout for the best for a minority population. Linux is a good example of how to do it; offer legacy support for known hardware and tell users with new hardware to go make a new kernel (in other words, tell users like me to go **** themselves).

I'm willing to be that taken as a whole, neither platform is any more dependable/reliable/stable than the other.

OSX is built for a finite number of platforms with the exact same hardware. Writing OSX isn't too terribly much different than writing games for a console.

I give M$ some credit for making Windows 2000 and XP as good as they have, considering the seemlingly infinite number of different hardware and software configurations in modern PCs. The XP Home install on my laptop has been running 100% stable for the last 6 months.

And on my desktops with XP Pro, the only time it has crashed on me was when I did something stupid, i.e. overclocking too much. Not that XP isn't without its problems, but it's been working darn well for me.

The bit about all Apples having the exact same hardware is bunk. While it is true that Apples have fewer hardware options than the PC, there are multitudes of add-in components and multiple hardware manufacturers of said components.

All that said and done, do not misunderstand me, I think XP is a great OS. I have been more than happy with it running on my PC.

...but (there are always 'but's aren't there? ;) ) to use FUD laced with BS to bash another computer just because you don't know how to use it is rather childish and immature IMO.

I'll say again, I think XP (and Win2k) is a great OS. It's stable, somewhat fast, and I enjoy using it (even though it is a bit of a resource hog). I also like OSX, it has a very intuitive interface, everything is easily accessible, and (I don't know how else to describe it) it feels like it just gets out of your way and lets you work. It's also a bit of a resource hog, but I guess that comes with the territory on these next-gen OS's.

Precisely why the Mac switch ads are soo much fun to parody. The ad campaign typifies that statement. It's of little suprise I haven't seen one in quite some time.

Then if'n I was you, I'd spill out the blame equally to Mac and Windows users. But especially to Mac users because Apple is using this exact technique with their national advertising campaign.

And dude, I live with a Mac-head. We both worked together to get my PCs and his Macs working with an old Windows 2000 server and Apple Airport Extreme so we could have and share broadband Internet access. It's been working perfectly ever since we had it installed.

Who says I haven't? This is not the only message board I post in, this just happens to be one where Mac users aren't bashing PC users.
