Won't the higher clocks help more than the memory at this resolution?

lol I pulled the trigger on a 512mb 4870 by PowerColor. I do believe I'll be just fine @ 720P. :)

Well, although I made my choice, what do you think? I won't be gaming @ any higher than 1280x720/768 & 1360 (or 1366) x720/768. I'm thinking the DDR5 which OC's nicely in the PowerColor variant will help me maintain good frames when I basically upgrade my settings used with my HD 3850...

On that card I games with 8xAF and 0x or 2xAA just to keep the postprocessing workload low.... but I believe I will now be able to utilize 4xaa/16AF pretty much across the board...

... and maybe I'll be able to crank up the Catalyst AI and use some Temporal AA... I've stayed away from that stuff, but I think I'll be able to have fun with it using the 4870.

It should be OK, that's not a real high resolution, like 1920x1200, so it should be GTG.

You'll be fine. The 4870 is better for that res than the 4850...even with the extra frame buffer.
