I wanted to try out the old dawn, dusk, adrianne demos but i can't in windows 7. Is there any solution? I couldn't even run medusa in 7 something about dx10, i remember i had to update dx10 in vista to run it but it's dx11?
Anyway thanks
I've run Dusk, Adrianne, and Medusa under Win7 X64.
I don't recall the specifics of any complaints about DX components, but I run the March 2009 DirectX update as matter of course. Seems odd that it should contain any updates for the newer Win7 builds, but it does.
I had some error messages from the Medusa configuration utility, but that seemed to be due to a problem with having the improper Visual C++ runtimes installed.
I found that Dusk ran badly using WDDM 1.0 drivers, and that Adrianne showed some tearing. They are fine with WDDM 1.1 drivers, though. For Dusk, I edited the file "args.txt" to run at my full screen resolution (1920 X 1200). It runs smoothly with current hardware (Core I7 920, GTX280) at that resolution.

Well they said they weren't compatible with my operating system. The dusk and dawn demos said that. I tried compatibility mode with no go in xp sp1, sp2, sp3, vista etc... Then again i dont have the nvidia drivers installed (186.18s) i believe. Nor do i have the visual C++ installed.
I don't recall having to use any compatibility mode to get Dusk to install.
What nVidia drivers are you using? (The Win7 betas have had reasonably up-to-date drivers included. Windows Update supplies some otherwise, if you permit that.)
The C++ runtimes aren't something that I installed separately; they are included with demos and the 3DMark benchmarking programs. Are you quite sure that you have none? (Check the Prgrams and Features control panel.)
I'd be happy to hsare with you what I did to get the demos running, but I didn't do anything special. I can't explain your difficulties.
I wonder whether it makes any difference that I'm using Win7 X64?
