I have noticed that some games like Prototype seem to by default use the lowest supported refresh rate of the monitor. The idea behind this I assume is to maximize compatibility but this leads to my problem which is that on my Benq E2400 the lowest refresh rate in 1920*1080 is 29hz interlaced, so no matter what I do Prototype runs at 1080i!
Right now I'm running via DVI, but with HDMI this problem was even worse because Crysis and Crysis Warhead both did the same thing and ignored my desktop refresh rate and used 1080i instead of 1080P. This Benq monitor doesn't handle 1080i well so everything looks pretty messed up. When I run via DVI Crysis runs at 59hz instead but Prototype keeps running at 29hz interlaced.
I tried using reforce and refreshlock but both are useless in Windows 7, so is there just some simple way of removing the existence of these display modes from windows? I'm not the only one with this problem, because I found several forums posts of people using HDTVs that support 1080P 24hz and of course all these games default to 24hz and can't be set to 60hz anywhere.
I'm running Win 7 7100 with a Geforce 260 and 190.38 drivers.
