ok now anyone except people who just got a pc knows what AF is so what i want to know is why games bother putting trilinear filtering in i mean i have it set on trilinear in game and 8X AF on dll menu so i presume it sets it at antisotropic instead of using trilinear but what if it doesn't i've only found one game so far that lets you enable AF in game and i cant remember what game it is :firedevil: go figure ( i have alot of FPS games with very similar menus) anyway i just wanted all your opinions

AF is used alongside bilinear or trilinear filtering, rather than instead of it.

i think the only game i've seen that gives u the option in game of enabling the filtering is the chaser demo.
plus, im glad they still have trilinear filtering, cause my ti4200 doesn't handle AF too well.

There are actually a lot of games that have an AF option in the game itself. One obvious reason why Anisotropic Filtering is not the common denominator is not all cards support it, or support the same degree of it. All nvidia cards prior to the gf3, for example, only support 2xAF.

o yea....max payne has an anisotropic filtering option....my geforce4mx actually worked well with it. so does my 4200, but thats probably cause it's only 2x
