So far I found few apps that don't want to function with Win7, probably can fixed easily with a small fix.
1) TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress - simply crashes on startup
2) TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 - crash on startup
3) Active@ KillDisk 5- crash
fixed in 5.1
4) Active@ Partition Recovery 5.1 - crash
fixed in 5.3
5) Acronis® True Image Home 2009 - crashes, 2009 will never be w7 compatible
according to Acronis, will have to buy True Image Home 2010 for Win7 use
List of games officially beta tested.

Nero 8 and PowerDVD 7 Ultra don't work either. I know they're old but I was kinda hoping I wouldn't have to upgrade since they did all I needed them to do very well:(

Nero 8 working perfectly fine over here. I have the full "ultimate" version.

Sorry I'm a dumb :ass:, the latest 8.3.13.0 works just fine. There's nothing that I can do for powerdvd tho so I picked up bs player pro and so far it seems like its going to be the only media app im going to need. I'm surprised I've never heard of it before tbh.
Thanks and sorry about that

Heads up
O&O Defrag 11, don't use/try boottime defrag, will not work
What will happen is computer will be stuck in black screen, and will never get to login screen.
workaround, if you get stuck in black screen. hard reboot, go to safe mode. In safe mode disable O&O service. Then boot into normal mode, then turn the service back on, and disable boot time defrag.
Orb does not function correctly for Live TV streaming to your iPhone (and other products).
Logitech G-15 keyboard does not have an application for the LCD for the RTM. RC and other beta's worked fine.
-edit-
Fyi, you can always install the beta drivers for Logitech. Use at own risk.

I've been using the latest logitech vista drivers for my G15 and mouse on win7 rtm with no issues. Just had to run the installer in Vista SP2 mode and as an admin.
On a similar note PerfectDisk 10 also fails to run a boot time defrag. Not a blue screen but it complains it cannot access the HD possibly due to a driver conflict.

o&o doesn't have a blue screen either, just a blank black screen.

yes i see; blank is not the same as blue:o
Edit- Try selecting "Run as admin" in the O&O.exe properties; it did the trick for perfectdisk.
Acronis 2009, Nero 8, PowerDVD 7 Deluxe not working? That sucks as I have all three.
I am planning on going to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit sometime in the future. I'm excited about it on one hand and leary on the other on how many of my programs that I don't want to lose are not going work anymore. I sure hope that "XP Mode" really works.
I have absolutely no confidence in the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor because of the results I'm getting. It says my X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Pro is plain incompatible with Windows 7 and I know that's not the case. It's not flagging any of the above programs I have (or any of the other programs I have for that matter) about compatibility issues. I know it's still Beta but I would think the damn thing would be more accurate two months before Windows 7 is supposed to be officially released.
For people posting here, when you are talking about what works and what doesn't, PLEASE SPECIFY IF YOU ARE USING 64 BIT OR 32 BIT WINDOWS 7. Even that game link is full of people who aren't doing that (even when the beginning poster explicitly said to specify) and it really is messing with the accuracy of the results.

nero 8 will work, if you use the latest version
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2059529&postcount=8
just don't install from your retail disc.

Yeah your right. It's busted with Vista SP2 and W7 (both 64bit). I have successfully used the recovery disk (USB drive) without any issues (backup and recovery). The only issue is it's as slow as pond water in early spring.
As far as I'm concerned I will never but acronis ever again, after the build 97xx? debacle (Vista/W7 64bit), they can kiss where the sun doesn't shine. :D

My original powerdvd 7 ultra (online purchase) installs and seems to run fine but when I try to run the latest patch, which btw is badly needed, it removes everything due to it failing at the very end. It is getting old tho so I can't hold it against them.
This is the patch in question; "CyberLink.5105_TaRe42_DVD090217-02"
Don't run it on a Win7 x64 install
I can also confirm that the latest Nero 8 does install and runs 100% on Win7 x64.
Edit- The latest Nero 8 is 8.3.13.0
Acronis 2009, Nero 8, PowerDVD 7 Deluxe not working? That sucks as I have all three.
Nero 8 works perfectly fine under Win7 64-bit, Nero 7 too which I still use because Nero 8 and above are too bloated.

PerfectDisk 10's boot time defragmentation works for me since ever the application was released, maybe a special configuration of your PC makes this operation fail.
Anyway, I just noticed today that there is a new update available for PD10 which fixes "some" boot time defrag bug...

Thanks Morrow. I was able to get everything working even older PD10 builds by running it as an admin but you are correct that the latest 119 build fixes everything and is even Win7 certified.
I also broke down and upgraded my PDVD to version 9 and all is well there too. I found it at g2play (http://www.g2play.net) for less than the upgrade price so I said the hell with it:)

not really an application issue but a driver.
on my MSI ATI 780G board realtek LAN didn't work correctly
when i was using windows 7 driver Local areal network was limited to about 400-900kbps when receiving data from another realtek NIC, when receiving from intel nic it was fine.
I had to downgrade the driver on the MSI ATI board to vista driver from June 2008 and now network transfer speed is about 20-40mbps still slow for gigabit lan.

Anyone try ultramon on 7 yet? It keeps crashing windows explorer for some reason more often on shutdown. I think it might be because I'm trying to run two different backgrounds but I'm not 100%. Also its kinda crazy that its been in beta for like three years now (vista/win7 version).
Using Ultramon w/ no problem here. So far all the programs work. Have to do more tests, but so far so good.

Thanks I'll try it again as I think I have found what my real problem was with many things.
On a similar note PowerDVD 7 also works as long as you don't install the latest patch (CyberLink.5105_TaRe42_DVD090217-02). The last patch before that (CyberLink.4617a_TaRe38_DVD081201-07) works just fine on Windows 7.
Weird thing is is that the 4617a is the latest on their website and the 5105 is the one that powerdvd update keeps nagging about. I wonder if its doing it on purpose to force you to upgrade to the latest version..
Just got Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Moved from XP. I was prepared to lose some programs that I really liked but to my surprise, the ones I really thought I would lose are working fine.
Programs working I thought wouldn't:
RipIt4Me
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
All my games that I had worked fine. I had all my games installed on E and D drive so I didn't lose them when clean installing Win 7. It turns out I only had to re-install 2 games out of about 50 that I had. The rest worked just by clicking on the game exe. I had Steam installed on D drive so it still worked fine and all games on Steam still work fine. A nice benefit of not having just one hard drive with everything installed on it.
I had Power DVD 7 Deluxe and heard here it doesn't work so I didn't bother trying to install it. I'll just use WMP 12 which is fine with me.
The one thing I did lose was my TV Tuner. Was kind of bummed about that. It was a Leadtek Winfast USB 2 tuner which was phased out by Leadtek a couple of years ago. Perfectly good tuner that is now worthless because of no 64 bit drivers. Not even sure it would have worked with Win 7 32 bit. I have to get me another TV tuner. My computer is in my own room I built in my garage so I did use the TV quite a bit while on the computer. I just ordered another one, Hauppage 1950 which is still USB 2 (what I preferred) and is certified to work on Win 7 64 bit.
