So I didn't fancy bending the fins on my shiny new Freezer 7 pro or sanding the side of the plastic fan shroud - which is required to fit it in the P5q-e.

There seems to be a lot of mixed feelings about mounting the CPU fan any other way but blowing towards the rear of the case.

I have a front 120mm intake, rear 120mm exhaust and a top blow hole 120mm exhaust. The fan fits perfectly in the P5Q-e orientated this way and the heat gets sucked straight out the top.

Seems to work and have some nice temps to boot.

Nice! Funny though, I always thought the freezer Pro was smaller than that! Looks nice though, good job!

Does your case have a fan or vent in the side?

I think you'd only run into heat issues with certain setups that are meant to have front to back airflow.

Also, it helps that you have a GTX 260. Older cards tend to dump a lot of hot air right back into the case for some reason, and with your CPU fan pointing toward the card it would definitely pull in some 70C+ air, which would kill your temps. The GTX 260 is pretty good about getting rid of all that hot air though.

Is your Q9550 overclocked and if so to what speed?

Duh nevermind I see it's at 2.9Ghz :o

Mine's running about 37C idle and 60C after an hour of Prime 95 at 3.8Ghz. My Black Knight cooler is blowing towards the rear fan in the case though.

Yeah I thought that at first then realised theres no vents on the back of the 260 :)

Its a coolermaster 590 so has two 120/140 vents on the side, but i've not put any fans in them.

Once its OC'd i'll do some more temp benchmarks.
