View Full Version : Dragon Naturally Speaking
Just got a promo from Tiger Direct which I found interesting...pricewise:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/email/WEM1989.asp?SRCCODE=WEM1989TT&cm_mmc=Email-_-Main-_-WEM1989-_-components
But I have tried similar voice programs of other brands in the past, and I never cared for them, because I never seemed able to train it sufficiently to make them work properly. I've been curious about Dragon, because I understand that it is the best of it's type, but I'm wondering just how true that is?

last time i tried their software was about 2 years ago, and it was horrible. Don't even bother installing it
if you do need Speech Recognition for some reason, just use the Vista/7 build in Speech Recognition.
That is what I thought that you might say about it, that is why I asked first. The sale price is cheap, but if it's no good, any price is too high.
I'm not in W7 at the moment, because I have an ongoing download in process in another OS, but I don't recall any speech recognition in it, other than the text reader in Ease Of Access. Where is it found?

A few years ago one of my bosses used this and he thought it was brilliant, but he had a top of the line mic and spent months training it and he spoke really clearly (Was a Harvard Graduate).
If it takes a Harvard graduate months, with a topline mike, to train the program, then I'm not interested, because I don't have that much patience.

The Interface For "Windows speech recognition" has slightly improved In windows 7 , but It's still a chore to use.
This text was written using windows speech recognition .
I find myself saying one okay a lot
But If I don't pause for breath in between words and it would usually Say what I want So it's quite accurate And I'm not trained it much .
