Okay, I am going to throw together a couple of vague theories here. Its too early in the morning so I haven't fully thought it through or researched this in depth and my reasoning is probably flawed but here is my idea...

1) Matter, Anti-matter and Time-Symmetry: The theory is that matter and anti-matter are related to the arrow of time. When time goes forward we get matter, when time goes backwards we get anti-matter. In our universe the time goes forward, so we see more matter than anti-matter.

2) Eistein and the Fabric of Time: Einstein perceived time as a fourth dimension of space. Really all times exist at once, we just perceive them in a linear fashion, like frames of animation. The passage of time is illusionary. "...for us physicists believe the separation between past, present, and future is only an illusion, although a convincing one."

So if the passage of time is an illusion, then its not really going forward. Its only because I perceive time as going forward that I perceive the universe as having more matter than anti-matter in it. If there was nobody around to perceive the passage of time in either direction, then the universe would have an equal amount of matter and anti-matter and would cancel itself out and cease to exist. So the universe it the way it is because I am looking at it.

uhh My cats breath smells like cat food!

Seriously though... its a little early in the morning for me to so i cant picture everything your saying, but if one thing bugs me about this Universe, it is we will never be able to learn enough in our lifetime.

I'll leave no.1 well alone for now :D and try and deal with no.2 here...

I don't think that is entirely accurate to perceive all time as existing @ the same instant...

it is more a perception of time... from vantage points...

the universe as we see it now is in the past purely because of distances travelled and the time it takes light (travelling @ 300,000 kmph for sake of argument) a LONG time to travel vast distances... ergo what you see when you look in space is the past... the farther you look into the universe... the farther back in time you are actually looking due to the time's taken to travel this far...

I am not entirely convinced about the whole separation about past/present/future thing just being an illusion :) it sort of goes against some theories in physics that currently exist BUT theories are meant to be modified/disporven all the time :D

lol... I just woke up myself.. I'll come back to this thread when I am more awake :D been a while since I had a conversation on this topic... chalnoth should be along shortly :D

Im in agreement with this, i remmeber a while ago scientists found a tiny patch of sky, as far back as they could look which had a very small cluster of stars (or something to that effect).. so if they could see further back in theory we could see the origions of some part of the universe.

Another interesting point is the idea that we have simply moved from that point causing time to pass.

I can't found these ideas because i dont get the time i'd like to research them. :( schme, flames for the fire i guess

http://www.space-time-mass.com/

that website... though I don't agree with everything posted... does explain in leymans terms the basic theories that exist currently concerning space/time and mass... :)

therefore giving an idea of why the universe looks the way it does..

Why the universe looks the way it does Because God wanted it that way. :D
