So my current speakers crapped out last week and I can't seem to decide between 5.1 good vs. 2.0 very good...

Here's my two choices:
1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121006
2. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836121122

I play games and listen to music about 50/50... I think if I played games more I'd pick option 1...

Thoughts...

I ditched my "normal" pc speakers and got some serious studio speakers and some tower speakers. best choice I made.

I am using ancient altec lansing 5.1 speaker setup. Still sounds fine, I am not picky. For gaming, I use Sennheiser headphones <-- Buying those is one of better buying decisions i ever made.

Yeah I like my pair too, I have a pair of these:

But I do find they bother my ears after a few hours... great for cranking a movie late at night when the wife's asleep...

Have a link? I have my pc in a bedroom, sounds like this could be over kill for me...

Thanks,

Vanz

While Logitech, etc. have excellent systems for PC's, I just chose to go a different route. You'll pay a premium but it's certainly worth it.

I have the Logitech Z 560 4.1 Speaker System and I really like it. I can vouch for these as being a bit older but sounding nice, not sure if you can still find them or not.

Also, I posted on the main page a deal involving the same Logitech Z-2300 2.1 Speaker System (http://nvnews.pricegrabber.com/search_getprod.php/masterid=4215519/search=Z-2300%202.1/st=query) for $102 at HP Direct w/small tax shows $7 bucks for me after using code AC1874 for an instant 20% off for a total of about $110. Newegg shows 17 bucks (for me) for shipping while I believe HP Direct is free 5-7 business days.

Not trying to promote anything and I don't have any experience with the Logitech 2.1 system, but figured if you were considering them why not pass this deal along to you :)

I would highly recommend this system if this is more of what you're looking for. Not only does it sound great on music, games, etc. for computers but movies sound fantastic as well.
