Neat.

Looks like animusic.

Yeah it looks very similar to ATI Radeon 9700 - Pipe Dream Demo.

Pretty cool.

Yeah it does remind me of Animusic/Pipedream, except it's of a much lower level of 3D graphics performance since NV1 was a very early, very low-end 3D accelerator without any geometry processing / T&L. Whereas the Radeon 9700 was a highend GPU that came out 7 years later.

Nvidia NV1 / Diamond EDGE 3D release: 1995
The demo? probably 1995 or 1996 (before Riva 128 came out in 1997)

ATI R300 / Radeon 9700: release: 2002
Animusic Pipedream demo: 2002

Good thing you posted that info AirRaid. I wouldn't have known the difference otherwise...

The NV1 couldn't run anything near this.

Pre-rendered, that's what this was.

one year old thread lol

according to the uploader of that clip:

"Demo videos sent to me by an engineer who indicated they were shipped with NV1 powered Diamond Edge 3d multimedia board. (1996-1997)

Robert Backstrand writes:

A collection siggraph convention animation entries stretching from about 1984 to the early 90's. Most of these pieces were developed to showcase some inovation in 3D animation. The notable developments being displayed are motion scripting, texture maps, reflectance mapping and perhaps even ray tracing but I'd have to look a little more closley. Diamond Edge had nothing to do with these other than perhaps packaging them with their product."
