Are there people with this card here who don't have these problems?

I will say that I hope a resolution is found to correct the issues you people are experiencing. Also, from reading the thread listed above, eVGA seems to have excellent customer support- they appear to be very concerned with customer feedback. Consider yourselves lucky in that respect...

eVGA is a stand-up company all the way around. They took back my Ti4400/ACS2 card because essentially the cooling system sucked a whole lot of you-know-what. All I had to pay was return shipping back to them - no restocking fee or anything.

I heard it happens to all FX5900 Ultra's nor sure about the standard ones though.

Isn't this board essentially the reference design? I realize that it was shortened and a few capacitors had been removed, but I'm extremely disappointed that so many users of this card are facing these problems already. This is why I'll never buy the first batch of any hardware.

I read though most of the thread and EVGA is offering them cross shipping direct RMA to all of the 5900's

pritty good company i must say.

I've only seen this happen to my 5800 if it's clocked to high.
Anything above 570 core and u have problems.
Maybe NV should rethink using the FlowFX. ;)

Since I downloaded the new drivers 44.65 drivers I am now able to get through the test #4 where before I was only able to get through test#1. Mine completes the test # 4, you hear a click, and the monitor goes black and no matter if you try doing a ctrl-alt-del you cannot get any response and have to do a hard reboot. I even walked away for about thirty minutes and it never responded

The test results were:
Test#1 FPS 11 – 30
Test#2 FPS 12 – 40
Test#3 FPS 09 – 41
Test#4 FPS 12 - 140
I have used the following drivers and little difference:
Drivers 44.03, 44.61 and the new beta 44.65
Intel inf file version 5.00.1012

EVGAETech
I am at the point not knowing what to do for sure. I am going to respond to the email about the offer to send our complete system to you. Alternatively, should I just wait and se if you get some drivers to solve this? Is there a window on when we have to get an rma from you? I just do not want to have to send it back like JBaldassari and have to keep sending it back. I have sent an email back to you and will call the tech support Monday morning and ask them what to do as well. Looking forward to finding a fix for this too. TIA

We have NKarellos :

Quote “Ok, I removed the good replacement 5900Ultra with the first problematic one without changing ANYTHING on my system and the problems are back. So it is the card...”

He is saying everything seems ok now that you replaced his card.

We have JBaldassari :

Quote ”Yes. The same thing is also happening with my new replacement card as well. Although, the new replacement cards a bit more stable. The original card was just bad. Hard Lockups, consistant "Infinite Loop" erros.”

We have Kadin :

Quote “I have just received my replacement GFFX 5900 ultra.

It works flawlessly!! I tested the card in all the areas that had problem before without even a hint of a problem. Raven shield, Forgotten battles and both the 3dmark 20001 patched and 2003(330). No issues whatsoever. 16537 and 6397 are the scores respectively. I will test it some more tonight and just to be sure I will reinstall the "defective" one just to make sure.I will let you know, if you are interested.

The perfect one has the following S/N:XXXXXXXXX

The seemgly defective one has the following S/N:XXXXXXXXX

NKarellos

So is everything working ok now with your system. Did you tell them you wanted, I was reading from the eVGATech

Quote “EVGATech, “ Unless requested otherwise it will have 500/900Mhz”

So, is your new card working good now? In addition, what are the clock speeds of your new cards defaults?

cmaes

I have already tried and updated my directX to 9a and no difference.

Quote “JMevissen , I noticed on your benchmark it said Game 4 was not supported... Well game4 is a DX9 test which leads me to believe you did not install DirectX9a yet:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A19BED22-0B25-4E5D-A584-6389D8A3DAD0&displaylang=en
There is the link, if you installed it, beats me."

To All,
I am like all of you I expect a card that runs out of the box. It’s fantastic that this company eVGATech is doing the right thing and provide awesome support. I will try and be patient and hope for a quick solution. Also, if everyone could please post there power supply’s watts. Some of the post earlier was suggesting bigger power supplies. Seems like quite a few have plenty big enough power supplies and still have the same problem the rest of us are having. Therefore, that really makes me want to wait before going out and spending another 100 bucks for something that’s not going to fix the real issue. I have already contacted Gigabyte and they say a 365 will drive the mob just fine and should push the FX 5900 ultra just fine? It’s just like reading that Nkarellos replacement card works fine, yet JBaldassari new replacement card is still doing the same thing just a little more stable. He is now going to have to return another card? Makes me winder what’s going on her and I don’t want to send my card back to only have to exchange it again. Let’s fix the problem and then we send it back if needed. This has to be very frustrating for the company and us. Look forward to reading a solution to this issue. If it means exchanging the card then I to will get an rma this week.

Yep, I posted in the thread at eVGA and am having problems too. It is difficult to tell if they are hardware or driver issues but I haven't had enough time to troubleshoot thoroughly.

And this is a reference design card so the issues aren't specific to eVGA.

sounds like they got ahold of a bad batch, but they fixed the problem wtih Cross shipping to all customers.

looks like the bios flash is more than clock/mem fix...
so far it seems to be fixing issues...

Check out the thread if you have the card
http://www.evga.com/community/messageboard/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1090&FORUM_ID=17&CAT_ID=1&Topic_Title=5900+Ultra+issues&Forum_Title=GeForce+FX+Family+Forum&whichpage=21

post below

All who get the stutter lock, try to flash your bios and then oc using coolbits. using 44.65 betas

My Halflife two minute crowbar swing and jump and run and jump and swing test did not freeze when I had the card set standard nor did it freeze with when oc'ed to the proper setting of 500 900... ... Will start stress testing now...

GNielson/BFG if you read this give it a try since we both have been dealing with the same issues since day one.

If this does work either A) there was a batch of cards with a bad bios flash or b)
a group of cards that couldn't meet the bios specs....

We should also all lobby for the OC'ed verion of the bios to be posted if this turns out to be the fix... we can then apply the oc version and see if the locks return perhaps determining that it would indeed be a hardware issue warranting a card exchange.

here is the bios thread...

Use this if you are prepped to rma to evga anyway, should be last resort sort of thing.

Note: use this with caution and use a good floppy or your card will be rma'ed as dead.

Follow EVGA's instructions... don't worry bout the old bios as it isn't working right now, probably won't if you reapplied it.

Stock BIOS
Since there is mention of the performance BIOS in the thread we will make available to this thread the reference BIOS. However, as we pointed out previously the BIOS reference or performance version made no difference as far as testing went. To obtain the reference BIOS please follow the links below.

i wonder if the card is not overclocked from what it should be and perhaps the first yields are showing instability @ those clocks because this appears to be a problem that is duplicated around the web (not many of these cards but a significant percentage appear to have this issue)

seems odd considering none of the reviewers appear to have any issues...

power draw problems perhaps ?

Hm, yes it could be just a bad batch that are not doing well.

But also all reveiew sites get cherry picked cards/hardware.
