I currently have a subscription to Skype, which I have never used, because of technical problems that I have yet to overcome. I only recently heard of MagicJack through a RadioShack commercial, but it went in one ear and out the other, until I heard some comments on the Clark Howard radio program, where he was praising it. I have been browsing their website:

http://www.magicjack.com/7/index.asp

But I'm wondering if anyone here has any hands on experience with it, especially anyone that also has had experience with Skype, and could make any useful comparison?

At only $19.95 a year how can you go wrong even trying it? :smoking:

At one time I was considering getting Magicjack. But that changed. They use to advertise that calls where unlimited. Not anymore. Several people where complaining on the forums that they where not able to make calls anymore. This was because Magicjack was cutting them off and at so many minutes a year.

Thunderbolt56,

Actually, that is the price for the second year, the first is $39.95. Currently, I'm only paying $30 per year, but I have to pay 15 cents per minute on long distance. Therefore, the long distance aspect is really what I'm looking at...at least on paper.

With the bad taste that I have in my mouth for Skype at the moment, I'm not anxious to repeat my experience by a shot in the dark.

I'm not certain just how much of an issue that would be for me, because I use the phone very little, but that is certainly something to consider. I didn't find any info about this on their website, do you have any idea of what their limit is?

Nothing sorry, magicjack has nothing listing the limits. Tnhat was one of the things that people complained about. People where being cut off and magicjack was not informing them of the limits.
