I have an i7 920 C0, and my boss has just ordered a cpu/ram/mobo bundle for work that includes an i7 920 D0 and he said he is happy enough to do a swap on CPUs so i end up with a D0.

his bundle also comes with a Gigabyte EX58 UD5. I have a UD4P so is it worth asking him if i can swap the motherboards, is there much noticable difference?

Personally, I'd just do the proc switcheroo as long as your cooler doesn't have a backplate requiring removal of the board to install it. If you have to take out the mobo, and he's cool with the switch, then yeah, take the UD5P.

Bottom line is it depends on what you do with it. 90% of the people that get the higher end boards don't use 30% of the features on them.

ok, i changed the memory as well but kept the board as UD4P.

so now i have a D0 920 and Corsair XMS3 6GB PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) (cpuZ showed the memory as 8.8.8.24)

can anyone tell me how to get the CPU to 4Ghz please

i think we have similar setup, do you have the dominator corsair?
I doubt anyone on here will have specific knowledge about gigabyte motherboards, but i recommend posting here in the gigabyte section. http://forums.tweaktown.com/
They have brand new bios, tutorials, and if you post your own thread, the dudes will gladly walk you through it. Just post detailed specs. I will also be following along in that thread if you make one ;)
