Larrabee 4 might be the one

Late 2010 or later

Yesterday we reported here that Larrabee 3 is the one that Intel plans to show and possibly ship in 2010, but recent update indicates that Intel might try another core before it finally releases Larrabee.

Since Larrabee 3 is planned for middle of 2010, in case it doesn’t slips again, Larrabee 4 is being mentioned as a potential launch candidate. If Intel skips Larrabee 3 and decides to go for Larrabee 4, this will cause further delays and might push the release of Intel’s GPU by at least late 2010 early 2011.

With Intel’s high TDP they desperately need to go for smaller manufacturing process and 32nm sure looks better than 45nm that Intel currently uses. The question is can Intel start manufacturing Bulk 32nm product in second half of 2010, to meet this schedule.

For the time being, at least until mid of 2010, Larrabee is nothing Nvidia and ATI should be worried about, as its yet to be showed and launched.

Let's just hope Intel GPU is as good as they're expecting it to be, because a power-hungry card with some driver problems doesn't look like a winner combination, and if the date is slipped even more, they'll be investing so much money they will need to sell tons and tons of this kind of product just to make a decent profit out of it...

At this rate, I would even dare to predict their product won't be a feasible one until they reach 22nm, but we'll have to wait to see if it's a real competitor to ATI or NVIDIA, but for now it's a solid no-no.

I don't know why they're trying to launch a high end product for the first version. like it's all or nothing. they should first just get their integrated graphics at a decent level first, and then scale it up to compete with Nvidia/ATI.

I agree to an extent. They should launch a mid-range product to test the waters. Something with a relatively small die. Then scale up if its possible, work out kinks, etc. As far as IGP stuff, their IGP's are actually pretty good, and the latest laptop parts are perfectly capable of playing 1080P high-bitrate stuff. I don't think 3d game performance is critical for those parts. Even the best IGP's from AMD & nvidia aren't really up to snuff for that.
