So what exactly would guide him here for that question, when the OOo help files and even the place you download it from guides you to those forums?

How should I know? There are many possibilities.

It's not a "problem" with him identifying his religion.
You can only speak for yourself, and if that isn't a problem for you, then I'm glad. Even if you could speak for the forum, the internet is a much bigger place than nV News, and I know from experience that simple faith identification can and does cause problems. I once got banned from a forum, because I refused to remove a signature bar which contained a Bible verse, which should not be offensive to anyone of any faith, because it was simply good sense for anyone.

This poor guy.

He comes onto the forum (from the looks of it he is fairly new to the whole "internet" thing), asks an honest question, and his thread is ruined by morons like seeker.

Apparently, he got the answer to his question, and if the thread did get ruined, I had a whole lot of help. Had not some members have taken the opportunity to take me to task, this discussion would have been nothing more than an aside to open ofs user. If I were to apologise to anyone, it would be him, but so far, he has not complained.

Vin is right. By the nature of the posts, I would have banned him as well. This is the first time that an actual poster was looking for actual help in a case like this.
