I did Google "GT300 demos" to find out if anybody else has the same news. All I found was many links to the BSNs article, good work Leo. :)

Anyway If true, it could be NV marketing department damage control, but do they really have the card or is just going to be series of Powerpoint slides. j/k

If there is going to be any demo I guess it's going to be at GPU Technology Conference (http://www.nvidia.com/object/gpu_technology_conference.html) September 30-October 2, 2009

After hearing from multiple sources spanning on several continents, we can be fairly certain that the samples of nVidia's first DirectX 11 GPU are going to depart from engineering labs. Just like GT200, GT300 spent several months in the Labs while the drivers were being created.

Given that today's GeForce drivers contain more code than Windows XP core, we aren't surprised that nVidia is taking time to get the product ready for market. Just like some media were suggesting that GT200 taped out in March 2008 [while some developers got the GT200 cards as early as three months before that tape out story], GT300 needs time [and human resources] to finish the development. GT300 is the base graphics architecture not just for the standard desktop or notebook graphics, but also as a future graphics base for the Tegra generation of products. And with recent rumors of nVidia implementing ECC feature into the GPU [which is a given, since GDDR5 comes with ECC], Tesla parts should be quite interesting as well.

But now, we have received words that AIBs are getting time frames forthe demonstrations to their own partners and press, with the firstevents happening in September. The dates are obviously planned to bluntthe katana-sharp market attack from ATI's Radeon 5000 series.

On nVidia's annual gathering of add-in-board manufacturers [happened a while ago], a lot of harsh words were spoken due to renaming policies, OEM positioning and more importantly, how to combat resurgent ATI - it was stated that a lot is expected from the NV70 e.g. GT300 generation.

Now, the only question is how long it will take for nVidia's demo team and software vendors to create traditional launch demos. ATI dropped the practice with the Radeon 4000 series, showing raytraced Ruby in its Cinema 2.0 event, but the demo didn't became available to general public. All in all, computer graphics arena is never boring.

I knew it gT300 will be out for Christmas, I cant wait to see these Demo's and the specs. AMD isnt a big threat the 58xx is going to be a paper launch with avaibility in October, so all Nvidia has to do to cobmat is a paper launch

I wouldn't be surprised if we will see demos with ray-tracing, as they have released their Optix api (http://www.nvidia.com/object/optix.html).
There should be some interesting compute shader demos as well.

Nvidia and AMD readying for DirectX 11

Monica Chen, Taipei; Joseph Tsai, DIGITIMES [Tuesday 1 September 2009]

Nvidia and AMD are preparing to launch their latest DirectX 11 supporting GPUs in the second half of 2009, according to sources at graphics card makers.

Nvidia is scheduled to complete engineering samples of its DirectX 11-based GT300 GPU at the end of September in order to start shipping in December at the earliest, the sources noted.

Meanwhile, AMD is prepared to launch its DirectX 11-based Radeon HD 5800 series (RV870) in late September and will start mass shipping in October. AMD will launch two models initially, the Radeon HD 5850 and 5870, the sources added.

AMD declined the opportunity to respond to this report saying it cannot comment on unannounced products. Nvidia was also contacted, but did not respond by the time of publication.

It will be interesting to see if AMD plans regarding the bandwidth. It has been very quiet regarding the Samsung 7GHz memory, which basically is their only way to increase it and still stay 256-bit.

NVidia already has wider path, and it seems natural that they will stick with that but also go for GDDR5 and therefore increasing the bandwidth.

If ATI stays with 256-bit and 4Ghz GDDR5 (slightly overclocked, f.e. 1200MHz/4,8Ghz), then they are out of the question for me.

BSN Theo Valich (http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2009/9/1/nvidia-schedules-an-event-on-the-same-day-as-atis-evergreen-launch.aspx) reporting.
nVidia schedules an event on the same day as ATI's Evergreen launch?

LOL, just a coincidence, sure. hopefully they at least will reveal some juicy info.
