I pulled this MB out of the closet, hoping that I could repair it. When I bought it off of eBay, it was defective on arrival, so the seller refunded the purchase. It appearred that the problem was due to missing holddowns on the heatpipe coolers and a lack of thermal seals.

I used Sekisui thermal tape and some holddowns that I cannalbalised from some other dead MBs. I thought that had fixed it, because it seemed to run good for a couple of days, but earlier today, it wouldn't boot or display the BIOS screens, until I disconnected most of the hardware. When I got into the BIOS, the hardware monitor showed 57C for the MB temp, vs 38C for the CPU...obviously too hot.

I'm going to disassemble the rig and reseat the heatpipe cooler again, but with some other thermal compound, but I'm wondering exactly where the MB temp is measured...at the SB, NB or somewhere else?
