A little plain... but I like it. :)

Cooling inside also looks to be very well thought out...

Overall... it looks very beautiful, it would be a shame to stick it under a desk... you'd want to show it off :D

Yeah, I think it looks great!

But look at the performance too! WOW!

Dual 2Ghz processors... each running with a 1Ghz FSB... a ceiling of up to 8GB of RAM... :afraid:

You were not kidding about the performance... :D

WOW!

A single 1.6GHz G5 outperforming a single 3GHz Pentium 4.

From those graphs, performance looks stellar... don't know enough about Mac's to comment much further though.

It has the looks and it seems the oomph to back it up... good package. I wonder how much one of them would cost?

You can go to www.apple.com and build your own right now. :D

I wonder how Doom III will play on one of these babies compared to a PC.

I'll bet you cold Fold@Home like nobody's business on one of those machines. :p

Seriously, they look way cool and performance should be awesome. But of course, what games can you play? UT, Max Payne, Oni, Warcraft...all yesterday's titles. But hey, it can all be yours for the low, low price of an arm and a leg. But if you act now, it won't even cost you your whole leg. Apple will let you keep your thigh! What an incredible deal!

As much as I hate Mac, this one looks like one helluva machine, which is a great change from the aging Motorola tech they were using previously. Unfortunately the one thing that hasn't changed is their insane prices.

/me figures he'll stick with an AMD Hammer-based system for much less than the Mac.

Meh.

All of the stuff they're running is probably 64-bit optimized, so we'll see exactly the same performance from Hammer.

Exactly, I never trust benchies that come straight from the manufacturer...especially with Apple's tendency to show benchmark scores that don't turn up under ordinary operating conditions.

I hear you, I'll be waiting for some sites to do some real benchmarking (note:not benchmarketing) as soon as they can.

That and to win the Lotto, so I can buy one of these bad boys....

I guess this is what they came up with while working with IBM...
They say the 3GHz version of the G5 will be available 12 months from now.
But I still agree here with saturnotaku about the limited games for the macs. Really depends what you intend to use it for. :)

i dont trust anything that is from the own manufacturer.. they usually throw a whole bunch of things in to make their product look better...

like...

"look at how much we pwned the p4 xeon! although it has an antivirus, ie, ut2003, a 600mb paintshop product running in the background... etc. since none of the developers make these programs for macs... we cant run them under the same circumstances"

:D

Apple systems have always been stellar performers when it comes to specific graphics tasks compared to PCs. It is not surprising at all that Apple's handpicked benchmarks show it whooping the PC.

You could show Itanium benchmarks whooping on Xeon/P4, but what does that tell you about Itanium performance in regular applications or games? It tells you squat nill. Until I see some benchmarks that are relevant to me, I'll be happy with PCs, their great upgradability, their huge software suite, and their relatively low cost :D
