View Full Version : RV870 is 1.6 times faster than RV770
Well, you know, NDA's are there for a reason
I'll be waiting for official information as well but seeing as I should be getting a nice little bonus this year, I might do a little splurging :)
But like the wise-people of the world, I am definitely interested in seeing what is coming out from both sides. If AMD's card is competitive with Nvidia's high-end, the best news is that the prices will remain stable/relatively low
The bold was directed at the obviously biased poster. :)
I had pretty much made up my mind I was going NV this time around, but, as you stated, if they are that competitive...well...I need benchies.
Unbiased, of course. :)
Very interesting round with Nvidia next generation still in the dark. Anyways ATI doubled the shaders, Texture units and ROP's but not memory bandwidth. Nvidia is rumoured to be doing the same but using DDR5. From memory standpoint Nvidia if still using the 512bit bus seems to have an advantage. Now I wouldn't be surprised if the performance standings are not similar in the end from last generation for the high end. Looks like ATI will have the cost edge with the smaller die and memory configuration. The big thing I see is ATI next generation destroys Nvidia's current generation (if these benchmarks are accurate enough). Nvidia usually uses the previous generation for their lower end parts, what will Nvidia do now? ATI in all price ranges will have full DX11 parts that performs much better then the previous DX10.1 parts previously.
Can anyone make money selling GF 285's for less then $225 to compete with the Radeon 5850 initially at $300 which has clearly better performance and which the price will fall as time goes on? Will Nvidia new line cover top to bottom with new designed cards or usher in the same cards with new names? The huge difference I a seeing is the mainstream cards, the previous generation Nvidia cards I don't think will compete mostly because of cost to produce them.

What?
Wow, this card is an animal...I might have to go back to ATI, but I hate their drivers. :\

Cool!
I don’t know if its the right description for it, but I like the “clean” layout of the card. Thanks for posting.

in same time, you can downclock GDDR5 frequency without lose too much kudos on HD4870.
bandwith is huge...

This one posted at B3D Forum, no idea where is the origin.

Two more also posted at B3D Forum, supposedly AMD leaked slides.

i dunno man...that W7 vs Vista thing might be a little bit iffy...
curious about the af stuff tho.

Yes that might be a bit hard to believe. Every other comparison up to now had Vista and Win7 neck and neck.
