I ordered this game. I hope I didn't make a mistake.

What I am most concerned with is the control interface. As everyone knows, all the previous Tombraiders were made for a gamepad which left us wasd guys out of the loop.

I have read that this one is supposed to support the mouse/keyboard. I sure hope it's got those controls right, then it just might be a pretty decent game.

From the looks of the trailer it seems like it'll play alot like Bloodrayne... Which isn't so bad once you get the hand of it...

I've played the Bloodrayne demo. If the new Tombraider plays like that, I'll be perfectly happy.

I also have Bloodrayne on pre-order at EBgames. The dam game had previously been set for release in May, then June, then July and now it's kicked back to September. One of these days I'll have it.

Hrmmmmm... AMazon.com already has BR in stock. I got it at Wal-Mart almost a month ago o.O

Huh?

I just checked EBgames again right now and it's still showing as shipping on 9/14/03.

WTF?

You're saying Walmart has it now? Whoa, seems EBgames is jerking me around. I first pre-ordered that game from them in May. I then got about 4 emails from them, each one shoving the date forward. Wonder what the hell is going on with them?

We are talking about the PC game right?

I just checked Amazon and Walmart, they do NOT have it for PC. They both have it listed for Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube. No PC

Whenever I mention games, I am ALWAYS talking about PC games. I don't play no dam consoles!

Computer gamer to the bone! :afro:

Apparently the PC version is super delayed... The MAC version is out right now... odd. I got the PS2 version so my badz. Hmmmmm... but if ya wanna know a little secret, Mirc let me get it for PC and it runs fine. Would u like some screenies?

Mike89

Yeah, with all the delays, I figured they must be having some problems with the port. Anyway the demo was very good. I definitely will get it WHEN it finally gets here.

I have two really good trailers of BR and they are the best trailers I have ever watched (they are 2 Media Player ones, not the crappy Quicktime ones on some websites). I wished in the game she would look like she does in those trailers (she doesn't). Very nice.

Absolutely, shoot the screenies!

GameSpot has a review of the PS2 version. bad one :(
they say controls suck??? maybe it's because it is now made for mouse control, I hope. and some of the PC screens (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/adventure/tombraidertheangelod/screens.html?page=66) show nice graphics over PS2

I actually thought the games were pretty good. I just didn't like the controls. I played a couple of them with a joystick way back when. No way I'm going to do that again now, it was just too much hassle playing that way and I'm not going to go with any dam gamepad, just not my thing. If the controls are like the classic first/third person shooter, I think the game has a potential to be good.

Hey guys just got back from MML2 (www.millionmanlan.com) were ATi demoed this game and I must say I was impressed. They've added a few things to the gameplay and the use of ps 2.1 and other dx9 tech makes it look very nice. If you didn't play the older TR games though, this one will probably still wear off after you get tired of looking at the graphics.

Hey I'm tring to run it and the FMVs arent working. Looks like it's due to using nvrefresh tool but I'm not sure yet. Anyone else having problems with the FMV's?

I just tried it for awhile. Believe it or not, they actually added features instead of making it a PC port. They use pixel shading, bumpmapping, etc. The controls are a bit rough though, even with a pad. Sure is a looker visually though.

If anything, it should be nice graphically, as it is being hailed as the first game to market that will make use of DX9 features :) Tomb Raider was never my thing, so I'll probably pass unless the game gets favorable reviews.

Ya I'm not a Tomb Raider fan I got it for my wife. However it is the buggiest POS Beta game to be released to the public I have ever seen, at least for a big budget game. It won't work right and I hear that geforce fx owners either can't see the movies( I can only hear them) unless I run them from the directory, and the game boots up to a grey letterbox haze with sound. I don't have time to deal with it today. But it may have to do with the graphics settings I don't remember what the default was and there is no real default button. I uninstalled it deleted the game folder and then regedited it and the graphic setting are still the same, not default, there is a config file somewhere I'm missing and it's not in my documents folder. Anyone know where the config file is?

Ouch! So far it seems to have a 54% rating here Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness Revies/Ratings for the Playstation 2 (http://www.gametab.com/ps2/lara.croft.tomb.raider.angel.of.darkness/1170/).

EDIT: It got a 52 at meta dritic Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (ps2: (2003)) (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps2/tombraidertheangelofdarkness/)

those are for the PS/2 version, so who knows how much of that will apply to the PC version. Hope the PC version is okay, the fact that it's was delayed might be a good sign!

EDIT2: Fixed a URL

Next up Jeff showed off Tomb Raider Angle of Darkness by Core Design. (Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness will be published by Eidos.) Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness is due to be released first week of July. The build that we were lucky enough to see was final pre-production one level demo of the release candidate.

Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness feature a unique render to texture technique that gives it its realistic appearance. Water is normally a very difficult effect but when Lara swims the effect is very impressive.

According to Jeff, Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness should be the first DX9 title with full HLSL 2.0 shader effects to hit your local store shelves. The shader technology is used for post processing effects including glow, depth of field, and heat haze effects. Later on it should be enhanced through a patch that should add DX9a support adding antialiasing to the effects using render targets. Of course in addition they are using shaders for Lara's skin and anisotropic lighting on the hair: this produces a more realistic effect that adds to the overall cinematic quality that is to be found in this title.

I posted this over in the Eidos forum for the game, in case you have this issue:
Ok first right click your desktop and click properties>settings tab>advanced>geforce tab>performance and quality>lower AA to none or application. Go into the graphic settings for the game under the tab of your video card, in my case geforce fx 5800 ultra. Change render type to software, apply the setting then start the game. This will allow you to get into the game (you may have to click ESC to get past the FMV's), then you can jack up the graphic options within the game. After this you should be able to boot in/out of the game normally but without FMV's if you already had that issue. The no FMV's is a known issue with Eidos for some models of FX cards, I'm not sure if it is all FX cards.

The game wouldn't run for me with AA enabled at all.
