Could you put some uncompressed versions of the AA quality stuff up? I can see JPEG artifacts (well, I THINK that's what they are...)

you do know that AA with splinter cell can't be used right ?
or were you stating that here in a round about way ?
Last, due to Splinter Cell’s lighting system causing graphical anomalies in the game with anti-aliasing enabled, the game obviously could not be tested with this feature.

I like how you used an assortment of game benchmarks that aren't usually tested by other reviewers. (Ghost Recon and Falcon 4.0 especially). It was a great review--good job. (Only thing I could have asked for were comparisons with the Geforce 5900, but I understand that wasn't the point).

JPGs have to be used due to site bandwidth considerations.
And, yeah, I know that the AA problems with Splinter Cell are because of the way the game's lighting interacts with multi-sampling.

SimHQ = :super:
I would have liked to see png's too, especially on a big dog fight in FB, but bandwidth limitations are more important. Nice review, I got a bunch of those games. :)

John
good review!
the only thing i would chage would be the FB tack you used. The simHQ track is very wimpy and not indictative of real gameplay.
Most of us in the squad and at il-2 forum (as well as mudmovers.com that have database set up for just this track) use the built in track called "the black death".
Most use opengl also-we want perfect with aa and af ;)
good job though

It shouldn't. Unless I get into time problems, especially with the wife and I's first baby due in 9 days.

Congratulations on your impending event, John! It will change your life in ways you have not dreamed of....
I have a 15 year old daughter and 13 year old son and other than the day I married my wife, the days that they were born will always be my best days...
Best of luck to you and the Missus!

Good luck! Be careful though--if your kid spends enough time watching you at the computer, s/he might end up more like me than you'd like ;) (there are pictures of me in diapers at an Amiga 1000. scares the crap out of me. :p ).
