I’m what I’d call an expert when it comes to computers and operating systems. I’m a designer by trade, so I demand a lot from a machine.
I had built my own Dual Xeon workstation in an all-aluminum case — complete with 5 fans and three monitors. The thing looked like RoboCop. Sad part is that it sounded like RoboCop too…loud and annoying.
My desk was cluttered with cables and the dustballs were unbearable (PCs with many fans attract TONS of dustballs).
I got so sick of all the “stuff” associated with my monster PC that I decided to chuck it all and replace the whole thing with an elegant, stable and speedy 17-inch PowerBook G4 with a gig of RAM.
It’s my ONLY machine. Its quiet simplicity and beauty allow me to think and be more creative…and I love it.
What a expert we have here:rolleyes:
I am a cyber crimes investigator. I need reliability in my job. I need to know when I am in the thick of an investigation or forensics I have exactly what I need when I need it. My laptop is my job — I have nothing without it.
I was tired of every month having to restore my systems because of the dual boot Windows and Linux. What a mess. Now I have one OS and all my tools to help me catch the criminals. Thank you all at Apple for a product that is flawless.
If the guy can't keep linux stable then hand me your credit card numbers, I'm going on a fraud spree:p
Let me start by saying how I don’t want to use a computer. I don’t want to spend time maintaining it, babysitting it, fixing it or otherwise being frustrated and held back by it. I want a tool that lets me focus on the things that I really like to do.
Read: Idiot
My Mac runs my everyday applications.
Wow! Really?! My PC does that too! And it's faster!!
It lets me share files with clients who use PCs
Nope, thats called the internet moron.
I had owned a PC for years. It was a horrid little machine. It was hard to use and I didn’t enjoy it.
RTFM
The Mac works in a very intuitive fashion, like the way your brain works.
I don't think I need comment here;)
Before iPod you had to bring a CD player with you in your backpack, and it would skip
No thats not true because the cd player is cushioned by about $500!
I have AirPort, so I can take it anywhere in my house with no wires, no cords, nothing. It’s just a really neat design. And it’s a lot more fun.
Yeah its called wireless networking, great huh? PCs use it too.
My Mac never requires technical support. It is fast, efficient, and compatible with the rest of the world. Everything is better on the Mac overall.
Mine neither since I know how to use a PC, mine is faster and more efficient and my PC is more compatible than your little mac will ever be. Care for a game of Shogun? Oh wait!:D
The only problem is my husband: He steals it!
He's trying to save your soul woman! Repent now!!!
Thats enough for now, feel free to attack more switch ads:D

Funny, I dual boot WindowsXP(the most unfriendly dual boot M$ OS) and Linux and have never had any problems. I also know better than to try and write to an NTFS partition from Linux, hell they TELL you it may screw it up.... this guy should pick up literacy, it might come in handy.
I've worked on Macs before and they crash just the same as PCs. You wanna go on the net and download something, well you have to look for a mac version or one that supports macs as well.
And what is with that annoying one button mouse? :p
Just look at the ratio of PC users to Mac users. That ain't gonna change any time soon.

Here's a dude who's just asking for it. Preface: He's a scratch DJ
I’m a musician. If you’re a musician, you have to use a Mac. A lot of DJs in my culture use a Mac, because that’s the industry standard. I mean, there’s music programs for PC’s and stuff, but every studio has a Mac, so why even switch? You have to use a Mac.
First of all - scratch DJ does not equal musician. It can't be terribly difficult to take a record and move it back and forth across the turntable needle.
You have to use a Mac? Maybe in the magical world of DJ Qbert, but on Planet Earth I think it's pretty well accepted that you can use whatever you darn well please.
I sleep with my Mac. I love it.
My Mac helps me make my dreams come true. When I have a dream, I just do it, and throw it on my Mac, and boom, it’s reality.
OMFG  This dude needs to get laid. And fast.

my parents offered to help me with some business investments and bought me a PC. I was happy for their help, but I wasn’t happy with that computer.
I didn’t know that much about computers then, but I knew I didn’t like it. It was not very attractive, it took up way too much space and it had stupid little speakers that sounded terrible.
That what you get when you let your parents decide things for you. It's obvious she's never heard music out of an SB Audigy 2 or NVIDIA Soundstorm through a set of Klipsch speakers.
And she didn't know that much about computers but she didn't like it? That's like saying "I don't know much about Asian food but I still don't like it."
And it's just like a woman to rip on a computer because it's "not very attractive." Sheesh.

The only catch? It was hard to sell my PC with integrity. Because when people asked me why I wanted to sell it, I couldn’t say, “It’s because I’m getting a Mac, and Macs are so much better.” You can’t just say that to people who are about to buy an inferior product, now can you?
Well, they say there's a sucker born every minute.
there is a reason apples have only a 2% market share in the world remaining... and its not all m$'s fault :D

A funny story. As I was trying to convince a good friend to also make the switch to Mac, he asked me if I’d had any problems with the computer crashing. I found this to be an odd question, given that I’ve never had that experience with my Mac. As I thought about it, I began to remember what an everyday occurrence this was on the Windows platform. It just brought to mind some of the incidental things we take for granted.
Hey, retard - maybe he was asking you about that because crashing on the Mac has been an everyday occurance since before the release of OS 10.1. If someone asks me about Windows crashing, I'm sure I'll think it odd because I've never had that experience with XP.
I have now experienced what all the fanaticism is about owning a Mac. They’re elegant, simple and enhance our everyday lives.
And I'm sure they've also given you that much-needed bost in the bedroom, too.

True. :) But while you are correct it isn't difficult to move a record back and forth, it is pretty hard to get it in some kind of rhythym, sounding good, and using the crossfader to good effect all at the same time. There was a time when you'd find Mac's in lots of studios, but times have changed and now there is a lot of great software on the PC. I know you're ribbing him, though, and scratching has sweet FA to do with any computer. ;)

Yeah, he's on crack. A real DJ generally will not use a computer at all, except maybe for some post processing effects on a laid down mix. A real DJ will usually have the hardware to replace anything you can do with software, or just not need it in the first place. :p Though a computer is handy for encoding stuff for streaming... I really need to get myself a Mac for that.
Did I hear a rumor that the iMac, the entire apple desktop line, was being discontinued? or did I dream it?

I love the way Apple comes off saying that the Mac is the answer to everyones problems and PC's are TEH DEHVIL.
Notice how the only people that would fall for those ads are mindless morons? The same mindless morons that would drop $4k on a damn computer.
If you are into some heavy rendering, then ok. For the rest of us, there is the PC. Long live the PC. :afro:
I will readily concede that mac's look nice and they have beautiful icons :D
and their editing software/hardware performance is quite unmatched @ the moment..
however... it is certainly not the everyday answer many people make it out to be.. and certainly it is not worth as much money as is demanded... :)

Not to get too deep into semantics, but aren't both Macs and Windows-based systems PC's in the sense that they are "personal computers?"
I would say Long Live Windows...but that's not too right either. I think I'll stick with "Long live IBM-compatible computers!" :D
And while I'm posting here...let's have some more fun:
Before iPod you had to bring a CD player with you in your backpack, and it would skip, and the little spring in the lid would pop out and it would break apart and it would run out of batteries quickly. Your headphones would break.
I think vamp and Penny Arcade have already addressed this issue. Unless you have a habit of dropping your CD player on the floor, even $30 players don't skip. And for half the price of an iPod, you can buy a player that can handle Mp3 CDs. The headphones thing I'll address in the next quote...
Pod has the headphones without the part that goes around your head. So, that’s kind of nice. And it doesn’t skip. And it’s small, so it’s not a pain to carry around. And there’s no little spring in it that pops out.
Dude is suffering from broken record syndrome. And to fix the headphone thing, you can buy a set from Target for $10 and they work exactly the same way as the iPod's. Plus, I tend to take care of my electronics so I never worry about my headphones breaking...makes me wonder what exactly he's done to his headphones to cause them to malfunction.
I’ve got a wall in my room. I’ve got 15 computers on a wall, and a desk that raises with hydraulic lifts, so I can feel like a mad scientist at 5:00 in the morning, just typing away. It’s really sick. Half of them are Windows, half of them are Linux. None of them are Mac. Okay?
I go to my executive director. I say, “Look, I’m really starting to feel this new Mac thing. We’ve got all these Macs. I’m starting to work on the command line. I’m feeling it. You’ve got to get me one of these G4 laptops. I need one of these titanium laptops.”
She purchases the laptop for me. Now what do I do? I’m sitting on my couch with a soda, looking at my wall of 15 computers. I’m not a mad scientist anymore, because I don’t need 15 computers. I’ve got one. I’ve got one computer. I do it all on my Mac. Okay?
Wha...wha...wha....what the ****?!?!? This makes no sense at all!
Let’s get the word out. I mean, please. You guys are doing it. Because you know, if you get a guy like me to say, “Okay, the next 300 computers we buy are Macs,” then you really start gaining some market share.
OK, now I know that Steve Jobs has read your story personally and he's going to look into that and eventually hire you as a consultant because Mac is the greatest thing since apple pie...NOT!
/me searches for Apple's market share...yep, still about 2%
We spend two hours in the store playing with the new iMac and, as a programmer with 25 years in the business, I can tell you this is not a toy. With the open-source, UNIX-based core, and a fast, intuitive GUI on top, it’s possibly the best operating system I’ve ever seen. The greatest thing since they put corn in a can. (I’m from the Midwest. I can say that).
Well, I'm born, raised and will probably die a midwesterner, I've been around midwesterners my whole life and I've never heard anyone say that expression...ever. You may be from the midwest, but you're still retarded.
As for that great open-source OS, I don't see anyone making something different because Steve Jobs would personally come to your house and have you swimming with cement shoes in the DuPage River.
You won’t have to patch security holes every ten minutes. You won’t have to spend half your life waiting for the machine to reboot after a crash.
Because when Apple patches security holes they come in the form of a 680 mb download as the next version of the operating system. For me to bring XP completely up to date takes no more than 30 mb and 10 minutes of download time. And even if you're on dialup, 30 mb can be easily managed, but what if you need to update your Mac OS? Are you going to sit and wait for a 680 mb download?
And on that last point...I can be surfing the web in less than a minute from a cold boot, warm boot or crash. Not as if XP has crashed on me, mind you. My install on my laptop right now (XP Home) has had probably a total of 6 months of continuous uptime. That thing may not be the most powerful, but it's damn stable.

i can understand attacking PC/win platform...but going after Linux, which is damn close to Mac OS X...heh...damnit....some ppl are real retards.
i mean Mac OS X is based on Unix code, prolly not_that_much different from some Linux distros, that's where they got their current stability....and u have morons compering saying they had trouble with linux and Mac OS x works great???
btw....it looks like that on every sucker born there is 2-3 retards also:angel:

There is one Mac here in the office... I can see it from where I sit at my PC. Sometimes I sit down at them Mac just to see if it is as good as they say... it should be intuitive, right?...
What the hell is intuitive about doubleclicking on the IE icon does not allways mean "I want to start a new IE"?... Last time I tried it it meant "I want to task switch to one of the three IEs that are runnig, but I don't want to maximize it, in fact I want it to be minimized as some kind of odd bar thats lying around on the desktop"... It was really hard starting up a new IE.
Hell, I just realized there are two Macs here!.... but one of them is so old noone ever turns it on....

Oh yeah, a couple other things I love. And this is from having a Mac as our web surfing machine in our office.
1) Closing the browser windows does not equal closing the program. You always have to do File/Quit or Cloverleaf/Q to actually close down a program.
2) You have to be very precise of where you click in order to actually launch a program. It's frickin' backward on a Mac when compared to Windows. Normally clicking on the text part of a program (as opposed to the icon) in Windows will cause you to rename it while clicking on the icon will launch the program. On the Mac, the opposite is true! WTF!
Oh and another thing about Mac updates, while certain OS upgrades are free, there have been several updates to OSX that have cost users $$$. Ans what are you paying for? $149 for a new version of iTunes (Windows Media Player updates are free) and some security fixes (also free with Windows I might add). The next build is going to be another pay upgrade. So that makes what? 3-4 upgrades that cost money? At $149 a pop, if you got 3, that's $450 which is more than what it costs for a full license of Windows XP Professional, which is going to come with free updates/service packs for as long as MS will support the operating system.

With regards to the iPod debate.
Step 1. Buy a decent CD player. Nothing fancy, just a pretty basic Sony one.
Step 2. Buy a pair of Sennheiser HD600s for $300.
Step 3. You win because you can actually make sense of the music and it doesn't sound tinny and, essentially, like ****. Oh, and did I mention the $150 cushioning your CD player?

Also odd on how their site they say the critics love iTunes, funny considering a lot of them including a large mac fan site have said how bad the music from that service sounds..
