I never had any doubts about that. Now the only question is when and how much. Anyway what else would nVidia say.

Several people confirm

Nvidia is still not revealing any details about its chip that we still call GT300 but one thing is getting quite certain. A few people who saw just leaked performance data on ATI's soon to launch Radeon HD 5870 have told Fudzilla that they are absolutely confident that GT300 will win over Radeon HD 5870.

Since GT300 has its GX2 brother they should not fear much against Radeon 5870 X2 whenever that comes out, as if Nvidia wins a single chip battle, they can win the dual one as well.

We can only confirm that GT300 is not a GT200 in 40nm with DirectX 11 support. It’s a brand new chip that was designed almost entirely from the ground up. Industry sources believe that this is the biggest change since G80 was launched and that you can expect such level of innovation and change.

The launch as far as we know is still slated for late November and hasn’t been confirmed.

Interesting, maybe this could be a new 8800 GTX after all. I'm especially curious to the changes/innovations. Maybe there are new graphical improvements as well. Or reduced power consumption/heat development.

I expected the GT300 to be faster. The question is especially how much faster and what the prices of this product will be.

For now, AMD has at least a 'free' month. So if Nvidia is really confident, they should make an announcement soon. Wasn't there a conference at the end of September? I could be wrong though.

Thanks for posting this info. :)

how much is the real deal here. if the source is fiable, 4 wafer failing down to 7 working gpu is an epic fail. i can't wait to see shares owner face :D

Why wouldn't they say anything else?

That is not correct. The rumors are that HD 6870 is going to be faster than GT300. Thereforem the fastest thing ever. :)

The Big Question is how much faster ,If it is only 5 to 10FPS faster and cost a $100 to $150 more ,then will it be the best deal.I wonder if the GT300 is going to have true multi-monitor support like the HD5870 has.Plus just hearing about the yields they are getting back from a 4wafers,104 possable on each wafer out of 4 wafers or 416 candidates they only got back 7 that worked ,that does'nt sound very good to me if true.According to this article the yields are 1.7%.

You should not take Mr. Demerjian's articles as credible sources, like I said before, being a journalist and having quite some personal hatred against anything related to NVIDIA is not a good combination.

I only play games at 1280x720 on the projector these days so I'm getting whatever single card comes out and staying with it for at least 2 years. Been trying to sell my 280's and 9800GX2 before the new stuff.

Nvidia: DirectX 11 Will Not Catalyze Sales of Graphics Cards.

DirectX 11 Is Not the Defining Reason to Invest into New Graphics Cards – Nvidia
[09/16/2009 02:03 PM]
by Anton Shilov

Nvidia Corp. said during a conference for financial analysts that the emergence of next-generation DirectX 11 application programming interface will not drive sales of graphics cards. The firm believes that general purpose computing on graphics processing units (GPGPU) as well as its proprietary tools and emergence of software taking advantage of these technologies will be a better driver for sales of graphics boards than new demanding video games and high-end cards.
DirectX 11 - Not Important

“DirectX 11 by itself is not going be the defining reason to buy a new GPU. It will be one of the reasons. This is why Microsoft is in work with the industry to allow more freedom and more creativity in how you build content, which is always good, and the new features in DirectX 11 are going to allow people to do that. But that no longer is the only reason, we believe, consumers would want to invest in a GPU,” said Mike Hard, vice president of investor relations at Nvidia, at Deutsche Bank Securities Technology Conference on Wednesday.

yeah that does make it seem like they won't have any DX11 products this year :(

maybe it is better to compare GT300 with 5870x2, because they should be launched close together. or I should say, might be launched close together. who knows :/

That would be bad news for every PC gamer but good news for AMD/ATI

New Nvidia cards is going to be faster then ATI offering for 35%-40% across the board, and yields are quite good. There are some new unique features coming to :)

I know this is rumors thread but I don't think you should create rumors using your nVidia crystal ball.

I don't think DirectX 11 really matters too much until a killer game supporting it comes out showing significant improvements over the DirectX 10 build.

I just hope nVidia can stay competitive in the lower end.. more the price/money ratio which AMD has dominated with the 48xx series.

It might be each company's tactic again I suppose. AMD for the medium price "bang for buck" angle, nVidia for ultimate high end "money doesn't matter" angle.

You mean the same way Charlie "I'm a douche bag and have no dick" Dem does to create doom article about them?

I heard from this cool smart person that the GT300 will be out in a week and will be 75% faster than a 5870 X2 and it will be immediately available for $199. Also, there are no yield problems.

I also heard it has a single-slot cooler and its TDP is only 5W on idle and 74W on full load, so we'll be able to stick 4 of them for total pwnage ^_^

I actually hope hell_of_doom227 is correct!!! :)

Nothing wrong with more performance.

I want something infinitely powerful, and that doesn't limit the game developers from doing anything they want.

If you look at it as far a die size comparison, GT300 needs to be ~48% faster than R770 to be worth the extra amount of chip realestate. I'm expecting 10-20% faster myself. So it will be like last generation, the consumer will win because of competitive pricing, but ATI will make more profit per chip than nVidia.
