China releases Iphone killer
Should stop Apple cold By Nick Farrell
STEVE JOBS will be tearing his hair out and stomping on his rabbit this morning over the news that China is about to produce an Iphone like device that will be a lot cheaper than his overpriced fetishes.
However it seems the Chinese have worked out that they can build their own Iphone-like gadgets on the cheap and they don't have to sell their homes or family members to worship a California autocrat after all.
According to AFP, Lenovo has unveiled the OPhone in partnership with China Mobile, which Apple had been hoping for quite a while would be its partner in China.
Lv Yan, president of Lenovo Mobile, said that each OPhone handset will cost more than $200 to make, but that the retail price would vary according to subscription plans with China Mobile.
This will be as cheap as chips in comparison with Apple's Iphone deal, which would have required huge subsidies from China Mobile to be viable behind the bamboo curtain. µ
