View Full Version : Deal for Students: Windows 7 For Only $29.99
Great deal for students! You can get Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional for only $29.99
http://www.win741.com/
http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Windows-7-Professional-Upgrade/product/8BB1A4B4
You need to call the number on the bottom of the second linked page to order Windows 7 Professional.

Perhaps at some point I will buy a retail copy, but $29.99 for Professional is way too good of a deal to pass up.

You need to call the number on the bottom of the second linked page to order Windows 7 Professional. No, you just have to click the link by where it says "Need to join you school's network domain? Click here."
See this post (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=2087802&postcount=26).
Then you can add it to your cart just like Home Premium. No phone call necessary.
EDIT: I see now you're talking about the direct link to the Microsoft Store, not the Win741 site (which is also run by MS). Not sure why anyone would do that, though.

Try to find it. The link isn't there anymore for Need to join. I think they removed that.

They email you the link, and it takes you to the page with the purchase options. It looks exactly like that post I linked to.
It's still there, but you can't add both to the cart, either home premium or Pro

I just clicked the buy link and it took me to a page where I needed to enter a college email address and re enter it to confirm no option for joining.

I just clicked the buy link and it took me to a page where I needed to enter a college email address and re enter it to confirm no option for joining.Yes, that's how it works.
You enter your college e-mail address.
They send an email to that address with a link to the webpage where you can buy it (it looks like the picture in the post I linked to).
On that page you can click the link that says "Need to join you school's network domain? Click here."
This takes you to the page where you can buy Pro instead of Home Premium.

No, just place two orders separately. I have both HP and Pro pre-ordered. The FAQ says you can order a copy of each.
There's already a thread on this in the Open forum where everything is detailed.

On this FAQ page (https://windows7.digitalriver.com/DRHM/servlet/ControllerServlet?Action=DisplayOrderInformationPa ge&SiteID=mswpus&Locale=en_US#q2), it says (emphasis mine):How many products can I purchase?
Eligible students are allowed to purchase one copy of either Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional from the online store.
And, on the checkout page of the promo site, the "Terms and Conditions" state:
Program Description: Eligible students are allowed to purchase one license of the product below:
1. Microsoft® Windows 7 Home Premium
OR
2. Microsoft® Windows 7 Professional
Purchase Limitations: Eligible students may purchase no more than one license of Microsoft® Windows 7 per valid e-mail address or billing address.Which FAQ says you can order more than one?

They changed the FAQ's to match each other. They used to conflict with each other. One said you could purchase one copy of each and the other said you could purchase one or the other. Looks like they caught their mistake. However, it didn't prevent me from placing two pre-orders.
I have two orders in place, I guess time will tell.

You aren't getting any money until that time tells then... :p
