Bad loss... had the third set in the bag until he threw his toys out of the pram after someone shouted from the crowd about a line call... then Rusedski did a "McEnroe" and started swearing at the umpire, that'll cost him a pretty penny.

A very good match, spoiled by that moment... both served very well.

Watched some of it, mildly entertaining. It's not really a surprise because a lot of people are picking Roddick to win the tourney, especially after Hewitt's early exit.

I agree... Roddick is a fantastic player, now backed by an excellent coach (Brad Gilbert). Although... I still wouldn't count a certain Mr Agassi out of the tournament.

Just a pity tennis isn't really popular in America... they have some really good players coming through.

roddick is one of the worst sportsmen in tennis.. his faking injuries to buy time and put off his opponents rythm has forever tasnished his image in my eyes...

he is a good player but any punk who decides to abuse the etiquette of the sport to give him/herself an unfair advantage will not get any respect from me...

he is a good player and he does stand a good chance to win mainly due to his serve...

eventually his groundstrokes will become better and he will be able to play with a better all around game...

but he is not going to get any respect from me :)

not that that matters.. :) just putting it out there...

I haven't really seen any bad sportmanship from Roddick in the two tournaments I've seen him in... though we don't get much tennis from the States here in the UK.

He's a crowd favourite, though... a character. Something I think that's been lacking in the men's game for a little while now.

there are lots of characters... roddick is just one of them... :)

there are more emotional and more crowd pleasing players out there...

he happens to have skills that many others don't...

but unfortunately... his lack of sportsmanship real bugs me...

I just chuckled at rusedski's half canadian half english accent... "hoooow can iy help it if some wanker in the crowd shouted ooot?"

Shame really because up until then rusedski was in the driving seat for that set which would have made a VERY interesting fourth set..

Even McEnroe was semi-impressed by that tandrum. Take that you water bottle *whack*
