In last week's AMD DirectX 11 media training sessions, AMD is responsible for the company related to the media, AMD introduced a new framework for RV870 graphics cards, and answer media questions, the venue atmosphere is very active.
Of course, the focus of this information is not in here, or even 5870 is not the card itself, but rather that we find in the meeting room, the other strange things.
5870 seems to be behind the strange thing, with the 5870 not the same.
8pin+6pin。 Turn over the truth to light, was originally dual-core RV870 the 5870x2, as with the R700 dual-GPU single PCB design, power supply part of the interface 8pin +6 pin.
AMD based on published Roadmap, development, code-named HemLock the 5870x2 will be released in the fourth quarter of this year the price will be less than 500 dollars. 3870x2 and the 4870x2 before the relative single-core product release should be a lot at night, it seems more adequate preparations for the AMD.
In addition the meeting room, also used a system equipped with 5870X2 demonstrated Crytek's Cryengine 3 techdemo, resolution set to 1920x1200, does not open the AA, the overall operation is very smooth, CE3 relative CE2 in the GI, SSAO has become noticeably stronger.

Ruby is mesmerized by the 11". That is a monster card. I hope ATI kicks ass this round. This will keep Nividia from releasing new cards at $500-600. More competition. Better prices, better technology happening quicker.

If that puppy's got a gig of RAM per GPU, and beats the GT300 to market, I'll take two. My two 285's just love to overheat, and the only thing left to do for them water cooling (which I'm not getting into).
These new set of DX11 cards are going to be amazing this round from both manufacturers. Just amazing performance if just a single 5870 can run some of the newer games at 7680x3200 on 6 monitors using Eyefinity. Imagine a pair of 5870x2's in CF. And just reading around the internet, even though initially there won't be many DX11 games because of the damn consoles, developers are raving about DX11 unlike DX10. This holiday season will be exciting times again for pc graphics hardware.

5870 is 11 inch and 5870X2 is massive 12 inch that wont fit in many cases. I hope GT300 will be less than 10 inch, if not then I will need a bloody new case!

Where did you get the numbers from??????????
The HD 5870 is 10.5” long same as mine HD 4870 X2 and same length as the single GPU GTX 8800 which I also still have and measured it. Since you're wrong about the HD 5870 can you tell from where you got the HD 5870 X2 measurement.
AnandTech HD 5870 review (http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3643&p=2).
Compared to the Radeon HD 4870, the 5870 has seen some changes to the board design. AMD has now moved to using a full sheath on their cards (including a backplate), very much like the ones that NVIDIA has been using since the 9800GTX. The card measures 10.5” long, an inch longer than the 4890 or the same as the 4870x2 and the NVIDIA GTX lineup.
I will most likely buy the HD 5870 X2 (or what ever it's going be called), just waiting for reviews before making final decision.

You know what they say about dual-gpu cards with shoddy drivers...

I was thinking more about what they say when they try to run their new games. :p

No I don't. From what I did read i understand the first couple nVidia dual GPU models had very pure support
I'm satisfied with the ATI support for the HD 4870 X2. If I wasn't there no way I would buy the HD 5870 X2.
It is ATI strategy for the top performance card to have dual GPU so ATI better work on the driver support very hard.

One of my friends has a 4870x2 and its turned him away from dual gpu cards for ever. I won't buy one after seeing all the issues his has had.

I really don't care about your friend experience, I have my own.
So no idea why are you telling me about your friend problems.

I usualy wont bring up ATI stuff too often but I will say my experience with two computers running 4870x2s has been great. I have had no issues running anything ive ever tried to play. I hope your friend dosnt give you too much advice if so id change your bs filter.

Honestly, i am a little disappointed with the 5870's performance, I was expecting it to outperform the GTX295, but its slower in most tests and slightly faster in others, its still a hell of alot cheaper then a GTX295, so its worth it, but I was still hoping for something clearly faster :/
(I personally dont care about price, ill be getting the fastest single-card I can, prolly in Jan 2010)
