nice...
very nice...

I'm building a "mostly internet" pc for some friends of mine...

- Compaq Sock.370 mobo (modded to fit atx case... we have pc board cutters @ work... had to take off the vestigial 1/8" on one side)
- Celeron 566 (gonna softfsb it to a 100fsb real soon)
- 256mb SDRAM
- Onboard i810/!!!STB VOODOO2 12mb!!!

...I tried a Voodoo3 in the system, but it wouldn't go... so I felt all bad cuz all i had left was a Voodoo2 and a Voodoo1... But I knew if I got it to work right, the V2 would be decent in GLide in UT at the very least...

...Oh and it is... smooth like butter, baby;)...

...so, I got the driver working for XP (the 3dhq ones I think)... but me wants to tweak a little!! I ain't OC'ing the darn thing, it's already hot enuff...

Oh yeah... games recommendations for this class of system pleeze? I was outta the scene post voodoo1 till the early gf2 days...

I'm already satisfied... but I wanna see more...

If you're comfortable using a keyboard for the controls, get Carmageddon 2. More racing fun I have yet to find. :D

If you have XP, it won't worth with any sort of game pad connected to your system. :(

heh... the original oni demo (d3d) ran @ like .8fps... and 4x4 Evo1 detected the onboard i810 and used that to go 6x4 fluidly...

Am I gonna have a REAL BAD time with D3D titles?

Oni's an OpenGL title. I had all kinds of problems trying to run that game on my Voodoo3. It wasn't slow, but it would lock up at points, forcing me to reboot.

Not a game I recommend for folks with 3dfx cards. ;)

No, that really only helped games based on various Quake engines. If you read the Oni FAQ, you'll see about all the different kinds of issues that come up and how they relate to 3dfx cards. Oni was part of the reason I ultimately ditched my Voodoo3 in favor of a GeForce2 MX.
