Between the 2 choices of an EVGA GTX275 for $218 after tax or a Diamond HD5850 for $303 after tax?
$85(40% more) is a pretty big difference even though the 5850 is better, it isn't that much better is it? I'm thinking probably get the 275 and a refreshed future 5850 when DX11 finally comes around...what say you's?
5850 for sure. It is a lot faster.

Yes $302 is too expensive, hence the question...it must be a local sale because I don't want to wait while the rest of the parts are here.
If ordering were feasible I would have gotten the ewiz deal on the PowerColor 5850 for $246 delivered. I should have decided sooner and ordered online :(
I decided to save the cash and get the 275 for now and sell it in a few months if DX11 shows up on my PC for at least 2 games.

It's a done deal, the 275 is already registered. From the reviews I've read in between my postings the 5850 appears to be at best 25% more card(usually less), which doesn't match the 40% difference I would have had to pay this afternoon.
Again though, if I had just made up my mind earlier I could and would have ordered the 5850 from Ewiz, since it was only $27 more. I'm a stickler for price/performance ratios, that extra $60 will go towards the DX11 part when needed...and it will be a better card than the 5850 by that time :)
The 275 will do more than I need it to in the meantime, especially since I'm only gaming in 1280x1024 until I find a suitable 22" IPS panel. Of course I regret a little not acting sooner, but this will be great anyway.

Unless you want to do 3D vision, or I dun see one single reason to get 275 right now(you can add a NV card for dedicated physics with some tweaking).

???
I currently have an 8800GTX and just purchased an AMD 955...surely you aren't suggesting I didn't need a new GPU to go with that are you? I wanted more than a 260 power-wise, so that left the 5850 or 275 as the best options...I'll get the 5875(?) next year. But no, I do not plan to use 3d Vision.
