If not in very late November
Fermi, Nvidia's GF100 40nm DirectX 11 chip is selling great even though Nvidia still has to officially launch it. Sources confirmed that Nvidia is taking pre-orders like there is no tomorrow, but at this time Nvidia offers no guarantees when the chip will hit the market. Everyone expects shortages due to heavy demand from day one.
The original schedule of late November might skip in the first week(s) of December, but from what we learned over the last few days, it was always late November to first days of December.
Nvidia ordered much more 40nm wafers for its notebook and desktop entry level chip as well as for Fermi, as Fermi should sell good in the server market for parallel computing, workstation use and, of course, as a computer games graphics card. The server market will be prioritized as Nvidia can make more money on the same chip.
Performance wise, once again we can confirm that multiple sources strongly believe that a single core Fermi will end up significantly faster than ATI’s single core Radeon 5870.
God I hope I can get one (or two) for Christmas :D

as long as we see benchmarks and reviews that alone would make a good christmas present IMO xD

I really hope they are out before Christmas, at the same time than ATI dual GPU cards. My 4870x2 will be nearly one and a half years old by then, so I'm in the mood of an upgrade

Fuad is also saying the dual GPU 5XXX card should come around the same time, and seems to imply it will beat a single "GT300"
http://www.fudzilla.com/content/view/16184/1/
AMD partners are working on a dual-core R800 card, codenamed Cypress and from what we learned, the card should launch in late November.
Samples are in the works and cards are in development and the Radeon 5970 should be the brand for the top card, but since we are not aware of any boxes with this brand, this can easily change.
Once it launches this dual card will officially be the fastest card on the market, but only until Nvidia unveils its dual Fermi card that is also expected by early December. ATI might be the fastest only for a few weeks, but we are quite sure that both dual cards will have a lot of availability issues throughout 2009 and probably in early 2010 as well.

I dont like Dual Cards i had once a 7950 and i had terrible miccro stuttering. I Prefer a Single GPU
I cant wait to get me a GTX 380 or what ever it will be called from EVGA ofcorse :-)

30-40 days ahead of Day 0, at last!! ^_^
*feels relieved*
Good news. Although availability and price might be pretty bad. But it could be worth it if one GF100 dominates a HD 5870 or at least allows settings considerably higher than its competitor can reach.
Its a bit too late for me, as my new computer with a HD 5850 was delivered yesterday but I'm following these new Nvidia cards with great interest.

It says NVIDIA is taking pre-orders like no tomorrow. I assume these are orders from their partners like EVGA and BFG? Because I don't see any GTX 380 or Fermi or whatever up for pre-order on e-tailers like Newegg. I will definitely want to upgrade my Green Machine to Fermi and DX11.

either that, or pre-orders for new Tesla cards.

Same here. But I'm pretty much without an internet connection between mid Nov and Mid Dec :o Hope I don't miss the usually very small order window to get the first batch of cards.
I hope they will show more game-related information about the card soon.

I doubt it, the way their FUD machine has been going lately I'd guess they are talking about Tesla pre-orders, which have already been announced anyway.

I don't know Ninja...say you were running Evga or BFG and your supplier NV...says "hey we're not shipping you any more of those 275,285, and 260 cores after date X"
Wouldn't you pre-order whatever they had next in the pipeline to ensure you could at least produce some cards? Don't need to know if the cores are good or not because the alternative is absolutely nothing. And no cards = no profits at all.

Thats probable, but I don't really believe they will have them this year, let alone early december.

I must admit, i'm finding it harder and harder to believe. Especially considering we really have heard nothing but rumors. Now is really when they need to look at launching, to make the most of the Christmas period.

I hope this is true, ive set aside quite a sum for fermi. But then again i wont die if it gets delayed until Q1 2010. Gives me more time to save more of my moneys. :D
Im actually more concerned about how much its gonna cost when it comes out eventually...

^^ lol me to. I have to buy 2 so i'm hoping for a break price wise. I'm hoping, not counting on it though .
I think it will be around 550 euro's. That's about 800 dollars. (in US it will be around 500 dollars to, but sh^t is way more expensive over here :-((

HardOCP believes (http://hardocp.com/news/2009/11/02/fermi_working_samples_for_ces63) there won't be Fermi cards until March 2010. Hope they are wrong, I would like to buy a new card on Christmas and I want to see what nVidia has to offer this time.
Even given a best case scenario for NVIDIA, we here at HardOCP.com find it hard to believe that NVIDIA will get any "real" amount of product to market by March of next year. Worth mentioning also NVIDIA has yet to speak one word to us about the gaming abilities of the Fermi GPU. It makes us think that NVIDIA does not even know yet.

New MacBook Pro, 20TB SAS Raid 6 Fileserver (starting with 8-10TB), HTPC and projector for the bedroom...
If they don't release it until march I'd be expecting ATI to release a 5890 the same time. I'd expect at least 950/5000 clocks and perhaps exclusively 2GB. While this probably wont match the 380 it would most likely give the 360 a very hard time.
Same thing they did with the 9800Pro when the FX 5800 released, only this time lets hope nvidia have something to show that really makes ATI's push seem necessary.
