As long as it supports the same board, I'm okay with it. If they were to make another socket for this chip, I would have been pretty ticked.

I said that i920 will be replaced by i930 few months ago so whole LGA1156 joke socket can make sense.

:D:D:D I just went into the year 2067 and snagged a i930 from EBayofMars.com for $0.42 cents!! It maxed out at 3294Mhz :thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

I don't understand why they would release this? I know its just a refresh, but I thought there wouldn't be anymore mainstream cpu's made for 1366 anymore?

Hmm, my 920 is already running at 4.2 and I know it still has more in it. If all that this 930 provides is a bump in clock speed than it doesn't seem like a worthy upgrade for anyone currently on 1366.

If all the ones being produced can do 2.8GHz easy, I suppose there would be no reason not to? Plus they don't have do any price cuts on the 9xx series this way, just replacing a CPU at a set price-point.

Nah. They just relocated to a different planet. Didn't change their name out of fear of losing customers. ;)
