so i have a 9400 gt and it supports DX10 presently ... now i am gonna upgrade to windows 7 which will be preloaded with DX 11 ... therefore will my graphic card support DX 11 via driver update ??? or does the capability to support DX 11 lies in the hardware ?? :headexplode:

No, you will need a DX11 compliant GPU.
Vista also supports the DX11 API btw, but you still need a DX11 graphics card.

At the risk of inviting captain obvious, you dont need a dx11 ready hardware to run windows 7. It only comes in handy when you are using a dx11 program, and windows 7 is merely a platform on which dx11 programs work.

Well, your hardware would support Shader Model 4 level of DX11, the SM5 stuff will not work with just updating the software.
