Wow ya know I was playing around with the Pearl master kit dream machine thingy on the pearl drums site and noticed something astounding... I've got a monster set :)
First a pic of a standard run of the mill drum setup using basic cymbal packs

I'm very unorthodox when it comes to drumming so, out of your monster set up, I'd stick a cow bell in between the 13x11 and the 14x12 (gotta have a cowbell if you do any Bob Seger or southern rock). For the next addition, you'll think I'm on drugs but bear with me - it's something I learned from my cousin - a second high-hat!

He modified it to where the hat was closed tight and made some kind of lock to render the pedal useless. He then placed it to the right of the snare slightly between the 14x12 and the 16x16. This way he always had one high hat that would always give him the "tat-tat-tat" sound (freeing his left foot to do double bass work) and if he ever needed the "tssss-tssss" effect, there was always the standard hat to his left.

In other words, he's a freak. :p

I think he and Glen Burtnik of Styx were seperated at birth because they play their respective instruments so damned wierd it's unfathomable. Glen, for instance, is left handed, but plays right-handed guitars upside down without reversing the strings! It's mind-boggling because you don't think that way. But he just takes any right-handed guitar, turns it around, and plays it like a fiddle. :eek:

I don't see how he could do it!

Not much for the cowbell thing, but I do have a woodblock that I use occasionally. as for the extra hihat I used to have one just above and behind the existing one that was closed just like ya said. As for crazy, to the left of the hihats I used to have another snare with the snares released so I didn't have to flip em on and off while playing... Just too much to haul around when yer crammin all of it into the back of an Iroc-Z :/ I gotta get a van...
