Why else would they be up on GFWL? :)

Also it seems they patched the game as well in this update.

Yes, it seems the update adds some new functionality and fixes bugs. Just load the game up and you'll get a message about an update.

Would GTA IV run on my system and is it bug-free?
I'm very tempted but i don't need another buggy performance cripple like FSX.

It is extremely cpu dependent. Yours would prolly run okay, but a quad would be best.

My 2nd rig is the same spec as yours, plays GTA4 fine @ around 30-35fps @ 1600x1200, a little graphics tweaking ingame & you're good to go, rig in my sig below runs it better @ 1920x1200 with 40-50fps.

A new patch (http://updates.rockstargames.com/patches/gtaiv/GTAIV_MAINTENANCE_UPDATE_1004.rar) has been released, release notes here (http://www.rockstargames.com/support/IV/PC/patch/).

Version 1.0.0.4 – November 10, 2009

GENERAL:

- Convert all region SKU's into the same SKU.
- Include support for all languages within single exe.

CONTROLS:

- Allow controls to be double mapped on keyboard.
- Added option in controls menu to disable mouse controls in helicopters.
- Adjust keyboard control sensitivity in hood cam view in vehicles.

MULTIPLAYER:

- Security Updates to deter cheating in multiplayer.
- Hosts can now immediately Kick users from their games in Lobby and in game via Cell phone without having to rely on peer voting.
- Fixed a bug in Cops 'n Crooks mode where Host would drop out and prevent remaining players from leaving game.

I think the patch number is wrong, if I'm not mistaken 1.0.0.4 was the previous patch number too

MS doesn't care, this is probably rockstar.

Yeah, Microsoft couldn't care less about PC gaming, they show it every day

Agreed. Which is cool of them given that GTA4 sales were low on PC from what I heard, and that they get endless grief from people with crappy processors.

It's a pity they introduced some new bugs. Look at the car shadows after 8:00pm in game time, the driver always casts a shadow outside the car.

We all knew it was gonna need a quad core though. Its their own fault for buying it without reading recommended specs. I see people on forums with single core CPUs bitching about GTA IV. I've had a quad for awhile, my games run fine, I'm smart enough to know what a game is going to need and prepare for it though.

Yup... and when you tell them it's their processor they act dumbfounded, "but I have a high-end graphics card!!!" Some people cannot get used to having to have a nice processor now-a-days as well as a kick-ass GPU.

I hope the DLC comes for PC. I was debating whether to get Stories on 360 or PC version with DLC.

I have PS3 version and I doubt the DLC will ever surface for it.

Well the achievies are definately in the game now, and they haven't said "oops" yet in any way, and I don't see how it could of been an accident, soooooo... I am declaring it confirmed.

I would rather they have released the DLC in the retail pack though, or through Steam. Hell, maybe they will, who knows.

Thanks for the info regarding the quad! I will definitely buy GTA 4 and a quad, but not this month.
Maybe they will release a complete package which will include everything :D
