Here is what I want to know. How do the Bitboyz stay in business and get funding when they produce nothing? Do they produce anything? Maybe they do but I am not aware of anything by them. So any way how do they even have the money to put out a press release saying they have the best card you have never seen?


I put this in the Hardware Rumor Mill because........ well heck it's about the Bitboyz! :p :D

As far as I know, they are funded by some companies who hope that they will someday produce something worthwhile... I not sure, but I think 3DRealms was one of the companies who wasted money on BitBoys during the Glaze3D Hype Buildup... :)

I also think they managed to trick the EU to give them money because they would "spearhead a new high-tech industry" in Europe or something like that... :)

They have some government funding. Basically an investment into technology. Supposedly, they have actually had chips ready to produce, but due to one problem or another, their production partners have always fell through.

Since they are now concentrating on cell phone tech, we certainly won't be seeing a PC part form them for a long while to come. Does anyone know if their technology is actually being used in any cell phones produced anywhere in the world yet?

They also make a lot of their money from the sale of intellectual properties. Matrox has been a big buyer in the past (bump mapping iirc)
