It downloads a small file that is not on the disc.

Your patience seems... limited.

I have a solution for you ATOJAR....

Firstly pause both the singleplayer and multiplayer mw2 downloads in steam.

1. Close Steam (File > Exit).
2. Go to the Start button and select Run (XP) or type Run in the Search box and choose Run from the list (Vista).
3. In the Run window type:

"C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E:

or

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -install E: <<<<if using 64 bit windows.

Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:\Program Files\Steam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.

4. Press OK. Your installation should continue from the disc.

In the words of NarcissistZero "Your patience seems... limited." .... Totally true lol.

I had a relative that had exactly the same problem, only every time we uninstalled then went to reinstall mw2, steam would try to download the files instead of taking them from the disk.

I installed from the DVD's and it just seemed to take forever. Very slow. It installed through Steam.

That's exactly what was happening to me at one point.
