600 for that? seems decent. I think the cpu may hold the graphics cards back though.

adding a 120gb and 320gb SATA drives to it as well of my own inventory lol, ill have the space. Alot of space considering im used to about 80gb total space to use lol. My 400gb drive died and the guy i bought it from offered me a 120 and a 320 replacement since he is out of 400gb and i didnt complain.

but as for CPU after i buy this im gonna save up for a nice Q9xxx chip for my 3d modeling

I think you could easily do a lot better for $600.

Don't you build systems yourself?

EDIT: I just went to newegg and threw together the following:

Gigabyte P43 board
Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93Ghz (should overclock like crazy)
4Gb Corsair XMS DDR2-800
MSI Geforce GTX 260 (216sp, overclocked)
OCZ GameXStream 600W PSU

For $555 shipped.

This will be a much faster system.

well the guy showed me his benchmarks on stuff, it beats a GTX285 in scores, the 9800GTX+'s are OC'd to the max also and been stable for him for a year like that, and there EVGA and registered he said if they break send them to him and he will RMA them for for me. I do build myself yes, but this seemed like a really good comp, beats a GTX285 in the games i play and can max crysis ultra high at 12x10 which is the res i game in lol. And dont forget the 2 80gb HD's for raid, it comes also with DVD-RW and DVD-Rom, and a case lol, oh and windows Vista Ultimate 64bit SP2 just didnt think those where important to mention, all I own is XP Home SP2 and XP Pro x64

He's ripping you off. Don't go for 2x9800GTXs. They wont beat a GTX285 in real world gameplay. As CaptN, you can do far better for 600.

There is no way two 9800s is faster than a GTX 285 in most cases.

The 285 will also not suffer from micro stutter or poor performance scaling related to SLI. You'd also have half the frame buffer of a GTX 285 since the cards are only 512Mb and store the same information when in SLI.

And 2 80gb hard drives will be extremely slow compared to modern drives. Data density is one of the most important parts of making a fast drive and an 80Gb drive will be at a significant disadvantage here (my Seagate 7200.12 has a single 500Gb platter). It will be slow... raid or not.

If you want a big pile of parts to play with, then by all means, buy that system. If you want the fastest and and most reliable system for your money, look elsewhere.

I hope I don't get in trouble since I'm not registered to sell (need to get around to doing that) but I've got some older stuff I'm looking to get rid of.

e5300
Asus P5k
3GB DDR2 800
Geforce 8800GTS 320MB (took off the sticker so it looks ratty but works flawlessly)
600 Watt Ultra PSU
Copy of Windows vista ultimate 32bit
160gb wd hdd
-No case

Not tons of power but it would be leaps and bounds above your current rig. The video card is older but the chip runs at 2.6 and its no slouch. The board can take any 45nm quad.

I'm looking to get like $150 for it all.

I dont know how mods would react to this, but If you have heatware/ebay feedback i am pretty sure you are ok to sell. Just post the link.

I tried feeding the pigeons Bob but they didn't care for chicken. Ungrateful little bastards.

Don't worry about those questions MikeC will ask you Maverick, Bob got asked different questions than any of us because of his "orientation" if you know what I mean. :bleh:
