I was woken up at 4:30am by my father saying my radio (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7385&highlight=mp3) got stolen.

It was a gorgeous Clarion MP3/CD player with Remote. I left the faceplate in the glove compartment, so of course they found that. Lucky for me they didn't break the windows, they didn't steal my Acura Integra (#1 stolen vehicle in the US) and nothing appears damaged. But they also walked away with 20 CD's, CD case, and digital tire guage.

Damn it I don't make a lot of money and I really liked that player. The only reason I left the car outside last night was I came home at 10:30 and didn't wanna wake up anyone with the garage.

Somehow they managed to open my hood without damage and without opening the car first to set off the alarm. From there they unplugged my battery and the rest is history. Unfortunetly my father screamed at them and they ran off before he could call the cops, but I guess I'm really lucky they didn't take my car. Surprisingly they didn't take my garage opener or EZPass either.

I have the stock radio and will probably just put it back, I can't afford to throw away money like this... but man I feel violated

The only piece of good news is when they stole my tire guage, they left the metal case it was in with prints. And I havent touched that thing in weeks so with any luck, they'll catch one of the bastards... but somehow I doubt it these things happen everyday

Really sorry to hear that man :(

I hear stories like that too often. It's really f#$% up when it happens to people who don't make a lot of money. See, when I lived in Poland, we couldn't even buy a good car cuz we knew it would most probably get stolen. And the depressing thing is that it is still the mentality of a lot of people there. Even when they save up and have the money to buy something nice, they are too afraid to buy it in fear that it will get stolen.
I really hate to live in a world where you have to look over your shoulder every time you get something nice. I had a similar thing happen to me when some guys broke into my car and took my faceplate from my stereo, custom lights and some CDs that i had in the car.

Hmm... seems today's society is full of people who would rather steal things than actually work hard and earn it... sad.

Sorry bout your car stereo... just the other week I had my £300 mobile phone stolen. Still waiting to hear from the police (though I'm not holding out much hope) :(

I am willing to be the theifs live with in a mile of you.
I had my Integra broken into during the early 90s. They punch the key hole and messed up the whole door. Why couldn't they just have broken the window? I hate theives.

Around 87 my parent business was broken into. They tore a hole in the outside wall behind some bushes. A FRIKIN' hole in the wall! They wanted to avoid the alarm. So we had to repair the hole it took a few days, so I slept there with my shot gun for 2 days. OHHHHH! I wanted them to come back! I hate theives.

I know what my mean bro by feeling violated, in fact one time when I was a Catholic priest convention I was in the bathroom and ...err I mean... uhh. :p

Seriously I know what you mean. I was mad for a month at least.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that man. I have a crappy Sony < $150 unit that I just bought, but now I'm surely going to bring it inside every time.

An update: the cops were unable to get any prints off the tire guage case or the car itself. The little punks got away with it easy. I'm so frigin depressed right now, I feel like some high school punks have humiliated me. I know I shouldnt take it personally, they were only in it for the radio, but still I feel defeated. When someone violates your space, you react by yelling, pushing, whatever. But these bratts invaded my space and there isnt a single thing I can do about it. I wasn't there to defend my territory. Being powerless sucks. :(

That's a terrible thing to happen. Whenever I go collect my police reports every week for the newspaper, I see countless reports of car stereos being stolen. I have to believe that less than 1% of those cases are actually solved.

Will your insurance company fund some of the costs to replace what was damaged and stolen?
