Hello,

When are we gonna be able to purchase the FX 5900 value?
What are the specs ?

a 256 or 128 bus ?

Thanks

i don't know exactly when but people say a +- 1month
(if i recall correct)
128 or 256 we would just have to wait an see some say it's 128 others say 256 ...

One would hope it's not 128bit bus. Would sort of add some irony to the use of "value" in the name.

If it's a 128bit bus, how would it be any better than the new 5600Ultra?

4x2 instead of 4x1 for the GPU.

wouldn't that be a 5800?

5900V has Ultrashadow, improved Intellisample HCT compared to Intellisample 2.0 on 5600U, much much more powerful VS and PS capability compared to 5600U. Probably bigger caches also. The core has 130m transistors, compared with 80m on the 5600U.

To tell you the truth i don't think there will be one, as if it's a 4x2 & 800MHz 128bit memory then it's just a FX5800 regular. So what would the point be? Considering the NV35 line has opertmised memory controller for 256bit bus and not 128bit.

5800 & 5900 are both 4x2.

I also don't see the point in the value NV35, even if it replaces the regular 5800. What about the NV36? You've gotta think that the Ultra version of that would be awfully close to the budget NV35/reg. 5800 performance.

the fx5900 value will be 256 bit bus and compete with the radeon9700 non pro

It will also be 350 mhz core and 750 to 800 memory. :)

more like 300/650

i see it as 350/750 part

then itll be a bit faster than a ti4600 and fx5600u thanks to the 256 bit memory bandwith, probably like a radeon9700 non pro but $100 more expensive :lol:

You have reliable info on that 256 bit bus?

The 5900 value can't be aimed at competing w/ the 9700 as it has been discontinued. Maybe the 9800 non-pro? I guess we'll see very soon.

mark my words. if the fx5900 value has 128 bit ram, itll be more like a radeon9500 pro. I am 99% sure itll be 256 bit bus and slower than the radeon9800le ati is releasing :)

Well so far the only mention I've seen of the 5900 value mentions that if it is made it's going to be a 128-bit bus.

PNY have now confirmed it too be 256bit. Like i said 128bit would be worthless due to the NV35 controller not being optermized for 128bit access. Might look for the following specs 350/375 core & 700MHz memory

I told you guy!!!!!!!!! 256 bit and I was right!!!!!!!!

fx5900 value=350/700 vs. 9800le at 275/550
fx5900=400/800 vs. 9800 at 325/590
fx5900u=450/900 vs. 9800 pro at 380/700

makes sense :) also shows the strength of ati!

Link? I hope it's a 256-bit bus as well, but I'm skeptical that they would, since both ATi and nVidia have been trying to put room between their midrange and high-end cards.

edit: nevermind, I just noticed the other thread, I hope it's true.
