Hi Guys,
I have 2 x 8800 GT's in SLI at the moment.
Basically I want the best possible performance for Modern Warfare 2 and at the moment there isnt any SLI support (even the new nvidia beta drivers dont seem to make a difference for me, even though they state it is now supported). Im not flush with cash right now but I was considering moving to a single card, possibly the GTX 260. Just wondered if you guys think this is worth it, or should I stick it out with my 8800's and wait for SLI support in a game patch?
Thanks for your help

You can't use nhancer or something to force SLI support?

You don't want ATI?

I'm sure that you can make a profile with nHancer....

Are your drivers up to date because in the nvidia profiles I see SLI support for MW2. Seems like 2 8800s would run the game just fine.

Ah yeah sorry guys it must have been a bad install. Removed them using driver sweeper and installed the beta drivers and it does appear to be using bother cards. I was kinda hoping for higher fps really, it seems I get about 42 in single player with a lot of action on screen. Multiplayer seems to be maxed out (91/92) but obviously there isnt as much going on at any one time!

i just recently took out my GTX260 and put my 8800GTS 640mb's back in just for MW2. they run it better at higher resolutions! so ether use the new beta drivers 195.55 for the MW2 sli profile, or make one using nHancer. sli in MW2 works great, just like all other cod's ...

Really, what sort of fps are you getting with those?
Im running 1920x1200.

Dont you find the beta drivers are buggy elsewhere though, for example flashbangs flickr like crazy when I use them!

i run at 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF max ingame, and it stays pegged at 75fps (max refresh) 99% of the time. lowest ive seen is 55fps. where as the 260 dipped to 45 fps quite offen. im on 191.07

Nice, well at 1920x1200 with no AA and all max ingame I get about 42fps (this is on the first mission where shepherd says get up private allen and you are shooting across the river) however multiplayer seems to stay between 70fps and its 92fps cap.
This is with 191.07 and 2 x 8800 GT's

thats good fps. right about where you should be. dont bother getting a GTX200 whatever because you wont seen much diff in MW2, unless you went with a 295 or an ATi solution. imho your 8800 Sli setup will last for some time yet, look at me i went back to my 8800's over my 260, and with it's overclock it's as fast as a stock GTX280. i hope i didnt bable to much ;0)

Nice to see 8800s still have some life in them ;) But it's largely dependant on how well the game supports SLI. Empire Total War has crap scaling in SLI with the latest drivers. I've only seen one driver ages ago where SLI scaling was excellent and it was very buggy in other games and even the desktop environment.

my 8800s are as fast as a gtx 285 as well, minus micro stuttering, heat, power, etc. I remember my geforce fx5950 ultra, it has directx 9c support! Support, but it didn't run too nicely. maybe a few frames per second. Call of Duty 2 is the first DX9 game I played and the 5950 ran it albeit very slow. So, I will upgrade when games run both of my 8800s down to about 15> fps. Crysis on DX10 runs about 30fps avg 1680x1050 no AA.

actually the FX5950 ultra has DX9.0a support since it only does SM 2.0a... DX9.0c would mean SM 3.0....

why get a gtx 260? For your system a GTX 285 would be nice, though I have two 285s.
