I snagged a sapphire vapor x HD 5870 the other day from newegg.com, its due to come in tomorrow. Does anyone know if the cooler on this card is a lot quieter compared to the stock cooler? and I was also wondering about its overclocking potential after flashing the bios and volt modding.
Im hoping I can get 1050 stable on the core with this card after the bios flash.

Up to $449 now:)
That didn't take to long, I'm surprised they had enough in stock to have time to raise the price.
Anyway now it's sold out and on "Notify me".

I can't believe how people are just gobbling them up even though the prices continue to increase. It seems like this is going to be the case for a while. The shortages are a pretty lose-lose case.

It seem HD 5000 shortages will continues for months into next year, AMD admitted the HD 5870 chips are very hard to make due to complex size.

Actually I have sold a couple on ebay already for a nice profit. I just got lucky the other day and saw this one on newegg while it was in stock and decided to give it a shot.
It will be at my house today and I will give feedback on it later, if for whatever reason I dont like it I will just put it up on ebay and make another profit. lol.

Sorry, I really didnt think I was doing anything wrong with selling them on ebay. I dont think anyone would buy the item from me unless they actually had the $$$ and im not forcing them to buy it.
Maybe I should stop doing it after all.
Times are tough..this is a thread I started @ [H] http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1472219
I think we should be helping people get these things at a reasonable price ;) not pull this crap http://cgi.ebay.com/XFX-Radeon-HD-5970-ATI-Hemlock_W0QQitemZ290373687854QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPC C_Video_TV_Cards?hash=item439b9eda2e

I love being Canadian and getting ripped off for an extra 30+ bucks than our nice American neighbors.
It applies to every damn thing we buy too.....ball joints, cars, graphics cards, everything...what a ****in load.
Back on topic.
NCIX has been getting intermittent supply, I check daily, hopefully we'll see better availability for 5800 series before winter solstice.....so to speak.
Heinz....we need an entire benchmark thread from you once that thing is up and running....

Couldn't you have someone in the US get it for you ? or is it not worth it ?

I ordered the HD 5970 from NCIX at November 18, when it show 5 in stock. The order was confirmed and CC debited but never shipped. Looks like I just missed by 3. Since I'm now third on the list I'm not going to cancel the order.
I doubt the next batch NCIX will receive is going to be less than 3. If I see the card for sale and in stock anywhere else in Canada I will ordered it and if shipped I can always cancel the NCIX order. Yes when I get the card i will do some benchmark reviews.
This is the email reply I got from NCIX Suport when I questioned when the card is going to be shipped.
Hi Heinz,
We didn't get as many of these as we would have liked, and we try and update our stock checker as much as possible, but I see you missed the first batch by about 3. You are currently sitting third for the next batch. I can cancel this if you no longer wish to wait, or swap to something else of your choice if you provide me with the sku number off our website.
Best Regards,

Aren't you guys taxed on goods and services like we are here? We pay 10% GST, so if you guys are similar that's probably where the price difference comes in...

For Spanish users out there, coolmod.com has received lots of 5850s and 5870s (as well as 5770s), I just ordered a 5850 for my brother.
Been checking stock at several retailers in the UK for a while now. Not had any stock for weeks. The 5970's at OCUK went in about 30mins and have not been in stock since.

Yeah I didn't include taxes...it was 358 USD on NCIXUS which at the time was equal to 378 CAD but at NCIX.com it was 409.99 CAD.
All before taxes...so yeah then we get to pay anywhere from 5%(alberta) to 13%(HST Maritimes) in sales tax....

Got the card and flashed the bios. Overclocked easily to 1ghz core game stable, load temps after hours of gaming with Crysis Warhead 53c with the fan speed set to 60%. The cooler does an awesome job and is near silent at these speeds and compared to the stock cooler its a world of difference.
Im probably keeping this one. :)
