View Full Version : GT 220 w/ 512MB as a Physx Card
Can I use the aforementioned as a dedicated PhysX card? I think it should work, just want some verification and suggestions.
The card has a smaller form factor but not much user feedback on Newegg.
Thanks

It might but a 240 would be better I think.
"Physx is heavily dependent on the GPU itself, not the memory, etc. As an example, the 9600GT has a 256 bit memory bus. So in bandwidth-limited gaming scenarios, it will be faster than a 9600GSO, which has a better GPU but narrorwer bus."

Use this cut and pasted wisdom to enhance your knowledge
Use a GT 240 instead. The 96SP GPU will be better for PhysX.

Or a 2nd hand 8800gt 112sp...
8800GT is not power efficient like the GT 240.

How much power does a 256mb 8800gt use PER SP compared to a GT240?

Does the ram voltage change for 2d/3d modes?
If RAM is less important for physx then keeping the ram cool by keeping it low speed might help keep the gpu cool with the all in one heatskink ??
I dunno.
