I can't believe people think PC gaming is dying. That could not be further from the truth. I was just having a look at what is due in Q1 2010. omg. I challenge anyone to come up with a period in PC gaming history with the same number of awesome releases as we will see in Q1.

Here is my list in order of my personal salivating preference:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
BioShock 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat
StarCraft II Terrans: Wings of Liberty
Aliens vs. Predator
Napoleon: Total War
Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Predator
Assassin's Creed II
Lost Planet 2
Mass Effect 2

That's twelve absolute triple AAA awesome PC titles. They are all games that will be best on the pc and some are even PC exclusives. Most of these games will have months worth of gameplay in them. There isn't a cheesy console port amongst that list except for Assassins Creed.
...and there are quite a few more that have not yet piqued my interest that I'm sure alot of you are pretty keen on.

I'm pretty sure there has never been a better quarter for PC releases ever.

Bring it awwwwn!!!!!

I think some of it was caused by a last year fiasco in November/December. Too many good games came out and only some of them sold really good. They tried to spread games throughout the whole year this time around. It wasn't a bad idea, but December feels kinda empty.

On the subject of PC gaming dying, there's always this http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/games-of-2010

See, the problem is that some people equate the lack of AAA PC Exclusives with the death of the PC. As the PC is my gaming platform of choice, it just means there's less reason for me to even contemplate a console as I get the majority of great games on my PC.

Not being a console owner (so correct me if I'm wrong), but I don't see why there's such an uproar because usually there's maybe one or two AAA console exclusives, and these either eventually end up on PC (especially XBox ones) or they're games I can definitely live without. The thing is, as far as console exclusives go, everybody forgets that the vast majority of their exclusives are complete shovelware. It's not the end of the PC AAA exclusive, it's the end of the AAA game exclusive... when you put that much money into a game, it's ridiculous to put all your eggs in one basket. The few AAA console exclusives that exist, exist because Sony or Microsoft subsidize the game. PCs don't have a lobby like that, unfortunately. Though if you add in big games from smaller developers, the PC has loads of exclusives, though not technically AAA (although possibly as good as AAA).

Anyway, back to the OP... I agree, I've played more and spent more on games in the past couple of years than I had, well, ever. Granted a lot of this had to do with me escaping the grasp of the evil MMO, but still I want for nothing on the PC. The world is my oyster ;)

Don't forget MMO's which are still mostly PC exclusives. Guild Wars 2, Star Wars the old republic and so on..

MMO's are the golden future of gaming, whatever their form takes. if its online and it's massive, then it's the PC's future.

Only MMO that I'm looking forward to is APB :)

no they are not

ports are straight copies of console version with no changes done to them recent example that Star Wars game by Lucas****.

most of those titles are developed independent for each platform, while majority of assets are shared engine is optimized per each platform. and again most of those titles are PC specific improvements not available on consoles.

EverQuest
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Descentł
System Shock 2
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun
Homeworld
Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings
Half-Life: Opposing Force

Now where at the end of the 2000's and I see very little that appeals to me honestly, stalker bores me, so does bioshock, ME2 ill get I never was a SC fan, NTW, and CnC4 are gonna be flops and neither are terribly interesting and tom clancey games went down as soon as they started making them for consoles also.

Nice list, and yes I agree, gaming on PC has been amazing lately. Yes we miss the occassional blockbuster like Uncharted 2, but 360-only gamers missed it as well. At the end of the day unless you own ALL platforms you are going to miss amazing games. Personally I don't have time to play them all.

I think when people speak of the death of PC gaming they mean it no longer takes priority, all it gets are ports and second-thought late releases. In a way this is true, but at the same time there are several exclusives on your list and you didn't even mention the big exclusive MMOs coming like Star Trek and The Old Republic. Also, most ports are awesome and the best version of the game, so why say we are dying off when we get the best versions of the game?

Exclusives across the board are dying. I remember the days when almost every game came out for one consoles or the other, or on PC, and that was it. Now-a-days almost every 3rd party game comes out for everything possible, that is not anymore a knock on PC than it is the Xbox, it is just a market requirement with budgets and sales the way they are now.

I can discuss it though.

The game is set in Australia (Australia being an island) and basically a virus broke out here making us all brainless killers (actually the is no virus, we are like that anyway) and while a young couple on honeymoon and flight over their plane crashes. They both survive, but are faced with survival of the horde of undead. The girl falls for one of the zombies and leaves the guy, who realizes he is actually a Reverend to go off after her and put a bullet in her head, while the masses of undead go about their business bring a new live and let live gameplay mechanic to the table.

The game is banned for sale in Australia as the zombies spend too much time on the floor.

I'll be ready for the next Necrovision. First one was an absolute blast and what I've seen from the 2nd looks even better!

I played the Red Alert 3 demo on 360 Deemed and it's actually pretty good. They do tone down the strategy a bit and reduce the number of unit you control, but it's still fun.

Supreme Commander 2 [url]http://www.gry-online.pl/S016.asp?ID=

wow SupCom2 would have to be high on my list. Now there is a PC game. Awesome.

Also I didn't realise rage was coming q1. There are so many good games coming out in Q1 that I'd be pretty happy nothing else was released till christmas.
